Corey Raymond vs LSU targets

Jacoby Mathews has scheduled a visit to Florida for this Friday (1/14).
Former Safety for UL-Lafayette, Mekhi Garner is in the portal. LSU has offered. Not sure if Florida has, but you've gotta assume his old coach Billy Napier would be interested too.

The Corey Raymond first day on the job picture where he wore a polo that looked like he picked up from a stuckey’s on the way to Gainesville and frowning might be the best pic I’ve seen in a while

Lol Billy and Florida wasting all their time and resources recruiting Louisiana. They’re going to get left in the dust in Florida.

Corey Raymond is great at finishing second. We'll be just fine.

Yes it was. Anyone want to post it in here again?

Yes, yes, we know. Corey Raymond & Texas A&M are going to steal all of the louisiana recruits lol

Thanks for making my afternoon

This has become a popular narrative around here that is totally ridiculous. II'm not sure if saying this makes LSU fans feel better or what. Recruiting louisiana kids doesn't equal not recruiting Florida. Do you really think they aren't actively recruiting Florida? He's built a big staff that is fully capable of recruiting more than one state at a time.
Billy would be an absolute idiot not to capitalize on his resources and relationships in Louisiana.... a talent rich state where he just coached for 5 years.

Is Jacoby making another visit to LSU before February?

If Napier can’t come in and beat LSU (good luck sparring with Frank), Bama and A&M simultaneously for LA’s top players, then he will absolutely be wasting his fricking time. What would you put his odds at building up an NIL infrastructure that’s even more behind than ours, and then coming over here to beat out the home team and two of the best recruiting staffs in the history of college football? Think about what an uphill battle you are talking about there. His time at ULL doesn’t automatically get him a seat at the high stakes table. He’s not Saban, who coached here and won a title, or Fisher with his own title and a spot on our border. He won’t be a consistent player for top talent in LA unless/until he wins something at UF.
So then what’s the point? There is absolutely no reason for him to come over here looking for 3 and low 4 star sleepers when he’s at one of the 3 flagship programs in an even more plentiful state for talent.

Getting rid of Raymond is a plus in my eyes.

Would it be a waste of time for LSU to recruit a highly rated player in Florida?

1 or 2 per class right now- no. Same goes for anywhere else. Trying to go after multiple high 4 and 5 stars in Florida and trying to establish some kind of foothold there- yes, it would absolutely be a waste of time and resources. Some of you act like Napier and his staff can and will do the later here in LA, but it would be a waste with little short-term benefit.
For different reasons, both LSU and UF have lost a step at home in the last year. Mullen turned off high school coaches all over the state while Norvell took advantage of his arrogance and stupidity. O just let go of the rope and allowed everything to slip and we finally felt it in recruiting this year.
I’m sure both programs will have targets OOS, but either staff would be stupid to not spend the majority of their energy the next two cycles repairing damage at home and in their neighboring states, rather than trying to establish footholds elsewhere.

He just grabbed Etienne. We could have used him. Don't fool yourself on that.

Just to let you know LSU and Etienne were never going to be a match.

So is this you thinking he lands Kamari and Jacoby?

Neither LSU staff showed real interest in him.
