He was hired to recruit not coach them up. That was never his strength.
It's possibly the opposite. Just from my perspective it seems the GM and coaches have decided that the bulk of the 2025 NIL fund will be going to the trenches. I believe CBK brought in CR to coach up the worst unit on the team because help in the form of a 5 star DB isn't coming.

Saban won how many titles at Bama? Once again, NIL didn't start the throwing around of money. Its been around for decades.

There was a complete overhaul of the defensive staff 6 months ago and you are already wanting more turnover?

There is a reason Brian Kelly only gave CR a 2 year contract.

Recruits love Raymond so much they usually give LSU a courtesy "2nd place" after committing elsewhere. At least that's how it was his previous few years at LSU.

The decision to bring him back will end up being a mistake.

I hope he works out and makes a big comeback.
But if he doesn't, i can see a very messy and noisy exit.

Raymond likely jumped for a two-year knowing what he had left on his Florida contract was going bye bye with Napier in December of 2024.
I didn't like that he sought to leverage the Tigers for higher paychecks almost annually.
Still, Raymond’s secondary produced seven first team All-Americans including Eric Reid (2012), Jalen Mills (2015), Jamal Adams (2016), Tre’Davious White (2016), Greedy Williams (2018), Grant Delpit (2018, 2019) and Derek Stingley Jr. (2019, 2020).
Under Raymond, LSU’s secondary sent 14 players to the NFL Draft, including four first rounders – Stingley (2022), Adams and White (2017), and Eric Reid (2013), five second round picks that include Delpit (2020), Kristen Fulton (2020), Donte Jackson (2019), Williams (2018) and Jalen Collins (2015). Others include Tyrann Mathieu (third round in 2013), Tharold Simon (fifth round in 2013), Jalen Collins (second round in 2015), Rashard Robinson (third round in 2016), Jalen Mills (seventh round in 2016), Donte Jackson (second round in 2018), and Greedy Williams (second round in 2019). All of them went on to start games in the NFL and four have appeared in the Pro Bowl.

We have a lot of DB players and it will be interesting to see how they improve. If they actually can tackle, take good angels and defend against the pass. That's how CR and Olsen should be judged. Recruiting will be fine.
