For those of you that know more about recruiting, should we expect Colin Hurley’s final recruiting ranking to be better than it is right now? From multiple sites I see Colin was the #2 overall quarterback in the 2025 class. He has reclassified to 2024 and On3 has him as 19 ranked QB and 247 has him 24 ranked QB.

He seems like the real deal, top couple QB’s in the country to me.

Is his size holding him back on the ranking side? His film looks like a top 10 guy. Makes good reads and throws guys open with above average arm strength.

Bryce Young just measured 5-10 1/8" at the combine.

He's going to all the events and performing well. You gotta think, Hurley is a 15 year old competing in ranking with 17+ year olds. If he has a solid senior season, it should put him in the top 10 QBs. He won't finish super high unless he goes bananas as a senior, but we all know we have a long time well trained, well built kid with elite arm talent (strongest arm since Finley).

This is just a product of the recruiting sites being to lazy to adjust thinking if someone reclassifies.

Happens all the time, not like the talent goes away, but upsetting the board they have in place would take a decent amount of work. They simply aren’t staffed to do that like colleges are currently able to accomplish.

You really think any school that had offered him would take away that offer simply because he was coming in earlier? Nope didn’t think so, to me he is still a 5 star talent just simply caught in the recruiting star game is all

Go do a comparison of his and Max Johnson's HS completion percentages and you'll know why he's ranked where he is. That appears to be the hangup. Shorts/t shirt-stud. Pads/tackling/gameplans-not so much. He's younger than most, if not all, his class peers so his development isn't over but you'd think such a reportedly highly trained QB could complete more than 55% of his passes. I like the kid but do think our staff completely abandoning the true '24 kids by taking him this early is a mistake. They better hope he flourishes or someone else does to make his take inconsequential. As always around here, trust the coaches.

Bryce Young was the top rated QB in 2020 so no. Size does not play a role in their ratings system of QBs

His size and his feet. Basically, he has bricks for feet.

It’s rare that your not tall and have zero mobility.

Didn’t he win a state championship in Florida as a freshman?

There was a guy, I think on On3, that did a real long extensive breakdown on Hurley after he committed. I wish I could find that post now, but it was incredibly informative. I think the guy was an Alumni member of the school, or maybe had just been in the area for a long time, something like that. But he basically just talked about how Hurley's teammates aren't necessarily the best.

I remember he talked about the OL, and it's pretty evidently true because if you go watch highlights he has to leave the pocket nearly every throw. He also talked about how Hurley was taught to never run and always keep his eyes down field. I think he talked about an amazingly high drop percentage from the receivers, etc etc.

Point being, this guy seemed to believe (and did a good job supporting it) a lot of Hurley's numbers were a product of the team, and not Hurley himself. He said once Hurley got into camps he would perform well, and that certainly seems to be the case.
