Wish we could have traded one of those CBs for a DL

That's ok. LSU could get critically thin at CB pretty quickly. 2020 is a good year for DL prospects and LSU is already sitting good with some of them. This class is as good a class as they've signed in a long time.

Should probably move Lee from WR to OLB or Safety. I think he winds up at OLB

Lee is going to be the surprise of this class. He's a football player. He's going to want to get on the field. He reminds me of Landry somewhat.

One less CB and one more DE would have been perfect balance

I like that we almost have every position covered with just the right number of players at each postion to field a team.

I would have liked more DL as well. I have faith in O and staff to go heavy on them next year. His track record proves that when there is a glaring need at a position, he can fill it somehow.

O said that Parker is playing TE and most here say that Bradford is better suited at guard. If true, we signed 0 tackles. The only real glaring weakness.

Given where we were in the bowl game, I’m ok with an extra CB.

There are really five starting DBs. We signed one last year.
There are three starting defensive linemen. We signed five last year (and moved two to offense).
DB was a much bigger position of need this year, and five really was not enough. We got the perfect number of dlinemen this year - three - it was the quality that was lacking. Trade Fonua for Young, and we would have signed the perfect dline class.

But Fonua is going to end up being a monster for LSU. So is Little.

Very pleasantly surprised we swooped in for Little at the end. Lots of moaning and belly-aching about DL, but rush specialist (Buck-OLB) was a far greater immediate need than DL. We are moving towards low depth for DL in 2020, but we were short on options at Buck right now.

I like the balance - I would prefer as balanced classes as possible, while recognizing we must farm the state and our other recruiting bases for the prime talent when available.

So, that begs the question - why haven't we developed a recruiting base that produces OTs (and, to a lesser degree, DTs/NTs - I mean, we're consistently losing the top DT in the state, but that shouldn't be the end of the world)? LSU could EASILY use 2 more pure offensive tackles right now. We're either missing on or not developing the second tier guys we're getting and very rarely getting a true top tier, ready to play tackle.

We're pressing guards into service as tackles and not getting great results out of the position. This was even a struggle for the past 2 head coaches, one of whom was an offensive lineman.

Even if you look at our all conference tackles over the last 10 to 12 years. Barksdale and Collins were tweeners (although both developed very well here at the tackle position). Black was a guard pressed into service as a tackle (replacing Whitworth). Faulk was a pure tackle, but injury prone. Hurst had injury and non-football issues. Most of these cats were OOS recruits, to boot (pardon the pun).

Alabama has had at least 1 All SEC offensive tackle (and often 2) every year of the Saban era - except 11, 12 and 13 - (BTW, a period during which they stole 1 championship and won another).

Especially knowing Fulton is gone after next year and Vincent could declare next year

Agree. The 4 CBs, 5 if you believe Hampton wants to start there, were necessary.

Wish DL had another guy or 2. If Fonua transitions down then its ok.

Just from the talking points of O, Turner and Parker will start off at TE, though O alluded to Turner at C in the PC. O did mislead that Turner is 285 though. Not even close. He was 241 a month ago.
The reason for bringing it up is simple, if neither buy in or put on enough bulk ti play OL then that will become the glaring miss in this class. Im a fan of the kids we got but only see Perry as one that can possibly play OT and i dont think he is any more an OT than Deculus is.

Everywhere else was hit just right imo. Not a fan of the McClendon take but not a big deal.

In O's press conference he said that Fonua weighed in at 270 when they checked him. If all of that is good weight then it screams hand on the ground. O said that he could play 4 technique. He may very well get some playing time next year. If not both him and Little will probably redshirt.
