his is just my opinion, but I'd MUCH rather a couple big bruiser type backs that LSU has had in the past.

You have to have backs that can run between the tackles for the tough yards. Especially since Miles likes to veto Crowton and run it up the gut all the time. Besides that is what eventually provides the room on the perimeter. Fast is only useful if you can get into the open field... just ask Reggie!

SFP you're wrong. LSU will be a combination of spread and I. Big bruisers and speed. Crowton and Miles. LSU is not going to significantly change offensive philosophies overnight, but I do agree that we will be using more speed and spread than we are currently doing.

if UF has shown anything, it's that you can't have enough speedy guys at RB when you're running a lot out of spread formations. they run FOUR guys out of that slotback position (harvin, james, rainey, and demps)

You may want to go and take a look at Drayton Calhoun...sub 4.3 and can catch.

THAT is why i think we're making a mistake not going after michael more. it's a philosophy thing imho. miles wants big backs to run i-form, and he's recruiting those types. but i don't know if they fit in with crowton's spread/spread-option (esp with shep coming in)

LSU #2 in SEC Rushing 2007. LSU #3 SEC rushing 2008 (LSU 1 hurricane delay game behind SEC leaders..with Troy St. coming in) LSU is less than 60 yards behind the leader. LSU will finish either #1 or #2 in SEC rushing by the end of the season.

LSU has back to back different 1,000+ yard rushers in 2007 & 2008 (When Scott gets 19 yards..)

When is the last time that has happened?

well we did kind of change it overnight b/w 2006 and 2007. at least 50% of the offense changed in a major way

les will always have some requirements about playing i-form dinosaur football, but i just don't see crowton not imposing his offense on the team at some point. he is the OC, and he is hit or miss when he has to go to miles' offense (he loses rhythm and sometimes he just tries to mix it up too much and loses what is working. we need 1 identity on offense)

The system in place is working as evidenced by the tremendous Rushing numbers LSU has put up the past 2 years.

but there is a rhythm problem in the offensive playcalling. this is b/c crowton and miles have 2 vastly different styles of offense, and the middle road b/w them hasn't been found yet

if crowton is here for the long haul, i'd expect his offense to start to dominate

Said before and I'll say again..........I think Calhoun will be our speedster RB in this class.

Let's see if this makes sense.....
In my opinion I think Calhoun playing RB instead of CB is MORE likely than Pratt playting RB instead of LB. What I mean is if we have 3 RBs in this class right now (Pratt, Ford, Calhoun) i think Pratt is the one to move somewhere else on the field.

yes

we came out throw throw throw

then we were run run run

a bunch of the 3rd down calls boggled the mind

i can't wait until we get to see crowton's offense dominate and he gets to unleash the spread fury

OMG...scout is so biased towards LSU! Just because he committed to LSU, they bump him up!

But LSU wasn't suppossed to be able to "run run run" on Saban's "vaunted" Defense. This proves Miles system indeed works very well.
