Because your position coach at LB/DC is a mediocre recruiter to start with. No recent names at LSU LB come to a recruits mind either. Brady James in the NFL? About it...

Louisiana doesn't produce LBs either. Even if we had a badass crew right now going to the NFL, it would still be hard to recruit a blue chip LB out of the state...

lets see, chavis has produced al wilson, jerod mayo, and now kelvin sheppard. i'm sure there are other big time names that i can't remember from tenn. he's recruited and developed them in the past. don't see why he can't now.

p.s., so what was the excuse prior to chavis? we haven't had a stud m.l.b. since brady james. dinardo era.

i get the impression we just dont recruit the postion hard as if its not a priority or something.

LSU only loses one LB...Hence the commitment of one LB.

BUT if Thompson or Johnson want to come on board, they are more than welcome to.

LSU lost 3 LBs last year ( Cutrera, Coleman, Riley) LSU signeld 3 LB's (Maclin, although he turned to DE, Muncie, Welter)

Next year we lose Baker, Francois...LSU already has one LB committed in Granier.

This is baffling to me. Going into this season, LSU should have been the #1 destination for two positions: QB and MLB.

We got Mett but before him, all of the blue chip QBs were focused elsewhere.

The number one dual threat QB in the nation playing WR might be a bit of that problem....

He is. He put on his facebook page the question Maroon and white or Red and Blue?

He let people comment and eventually posted Maroon and White. Take it for what its worth. I havent heard him say much about LSU at all a lot more about Ole Miss than LSU.

tell Copeland that...he said Go Vols on facebook then switch his commitment to LSU on Signing Day

Yes but of the three we signed, one is a DE and the other two are OLBs. The one LB commit we have right now projects as an OLB.

We have one--ONE--MLB on the roster. Thompson or CJ would be a perfect fit and would be virtually guaranteed early playing time. Plus, they would get to play for a team that is contending every year, on national TV 10 out of 12 games. Why CJ is so focused on OM and MSU when LSU is an easy drive away--I just don't get.

Nothing to go by but just gut feeling and the fact that we are on a roll.

I think we land CJ Johnson.....along with Jernigan and Rasco.

Thast my gut nothing more.

I am praying for this.

Maybe there is something involving Kendall Thompson that the coaching staff knows about. Not saying that's true, but it could explain CJ's interest into Ole Miss more

Welter Bio from LSUSports.net

He may have moved to MLB but he was an OLB coming out of high school. He may HAVE to play OLB if Thompson or Johnson can be convinced to come to Baton Rouge.

What about Barrow?

He was a MLB coming out. I know he subbed for Baker when he got hurt, but might be another option.

Barrow is a starting claiber Will. Again, we could move him to Mike if necessity dictated it. But why not get a true Mike.

All it will take is his visit to LSU. We do get his last visit potentially. MSU this weekend, Ole Miss the 21st, and LSU the 28th, with possibly one more afterwards

He is visiting Arkanas on the 23rd. Coming up straight from Oxford. Doubt we are a player with him but that's were his other visit will be.

Well after watching 30 on 30 hopefully Dupree can tell him what not to do with all his talent. Probablly the single biggest waste of talent ever. Including the Deisel..

Dipshit,he may have been a great hs QB but was never projected to be a QB in college. He saw that and asked to move to w/r. Texas told Shep up front that he would not be a QB.
