Is this just your opinion because everything I saw of his film he is very deserving?

Trent Richardson however will remain in the top 10 and will push for the top 5 overall by the end of the year.
You might be right. You may not, however CM wants to be a Tiger and TR doesn't and with the talent that close, that's enough for me!

Yes, just my opinion. He earned that ranking solely on an impressive camp performance.
While camp performances are great, in game performances are more so.
I do know for a fact that there is at least one RB (TR) higher on the LSU coaches board than CM.
I feel like my 'predictions' on ranking changes have been fairly accurate thus far -- Heres what I said a few months ago (can find this in the Stagg8 sticky we did). I'll bold the ones that were correct.
quote:
Marlon Brown - Big time talent, but EXTREMELY raw. Not close to ready technique wise for college. Will be a stud once he gets his steps rights (route running is a big problem area for him). I think he loses his 5th star. Should be around 40 or so. Actually dropped a little more than I expected
Shaq Evans - has dropped to around #85 on scout. Don't expect him to drop that much on rivals, but he will be around 50 or so. Great talent, but needs to work on a few things...namely, CATCHING THE BALL! haha.
Kraig Appleton - If you follow my posts, then you know I am probably his BIGGEST fan. But him at #48 is just too high. I expect him to drop into the 60-70 range.Actually dropped a little more than expected after these last rankings were released. He was in the low 70s after one of their rankings, but is in the high 90s in the newest
JaMarcus McFarland - once he commits he will drop a little bit. Probably between 8-10. Devon Kennard is easily the best defensive player in this year's class. Not a big deal, but once he COMMITS he will drop. He will probably not move much until then so that Rivals can keep the suspense on him.I thought he would drop eventually, but they dropped him sooner than I had expected. He is at #13 now, but I was wrong about 'after' he commits. Nonetheless, I knew he would drop.
Patrick Patterson - Another guy that is very good but rivals moved him too far up in the last rankings. He is at #43 right now, and I expect him to drop into the 60s along with Appleton.Down to around #48 if I remember, but hes only a 3 star on Scout. He will definitely drop some more before the final Rivals rankings -- they have not been able to see him again since the last rankings.
Emory Blake - He has had great showings at camps, but his offers at not rolling in from any big time camps. His best offer at this point is grey shirt from Texas. I would love LSU to offer a grey shirt. He is a team player and a guy that will be a solid contributor all 4 years (wouldn't leave early for the pros). GREAT ROUTE RUNNER. Probably the best in the 2009 class. His dad is Jeff Blake.Right on with this one. He out of the top 250.
Eddie Lacy - Definite top 100 talent, but grades are eventually going to push him lower in the rankings because rankings reflect him as a 'prospect' not 'talent' level. Grades will push him to around 85-90 or so. But I don't see him slipping out of the top 100.
The latest rankings would agree with my assessment. Also, he got hurt since I first wrote this about him so I can see him dropping out of the top 100 eventually b.c of the injury
Hasan Lipscomb - Falls out of the Rivals 250 but keeps his 4th star. I would rate him around 275. He is at 224 right now.
Fletcher Cox - At first we all thought we had the next Dwight Freeney on our hand because his Rivals stats said he is a DE that runs a 4.4. Well, that was completely wrong as he runs between a 4.7-4.8 (recent camp time I believe). Still good for a DE, but not nearly as good as 4.4!! haha. He is at 104 right now. I expect him to drop to 165-180 before its over.Hasn't dropped as much as I thought he would yet.
Thats a list of guys I see dropping in the rankings some (that are associated with LSU).
Now to the guys I think will rise.
Michael Ford - He is at 211 right now. I think he will reach the 120 mark at least before the year is over. It would not surprise me if he gets up to around 60 with a big year. The people that think he gets a 5th star are going out on a limb too much. to rise almost 200 spots in one year is almost impossible. I honestly think a guy like Trent Richardson are better than Ford and TR is at #27. If he doesn't get a 5th star then neither will Ford.No explanation needed; we all knew he needed the bump. Hes in the 70s now so we'll see how much more he can rise before it is all said and done.
Michael Brokers - wow has rivals screwed with this LSU commit. He started the year around 90 then dropped to 100 and is now at #175. He is WAY undervalued at 175. I look for him to creep back into the 125 range. I doubt he gets into the Rivals 100 as 75 spots is a lot to climb for a class loaded at DE.He is the biggest steal of the class thus far IMO. He should be in the top 100 with the type of physique he has. The potential is out the roof. I still expect him to rise.
Kevin Minter - Rivals completely F'ed this one up. Scout has Minter as their #4 LB in the ENTIRE nation, while Rivals has him as #17 LB in the country...too big of a difference and while I rather Rivals rankings, scout hit this one on the head. Minter should move into the 160s range by the end of the year IMO.He rose and got his 4th; I don't know if he is in the 250 yet.
Chris Garrett - I think he ends up squeaking into 4 star status. And by that I really mean barely getting that 4th star. There are roughly 300 4 stars total and I would expect him to be between 280-300 when it is all said and done. He is a GREAT talent, but he is not 'flashy' by any means. Throws a ball with a lot of touch. As it is often called, he throws a very 'catchable' ball.He will get a 4th by the end of the year; he is being reevaluated very soon. It would not surprise me to see a bump to a 4 star in the next rankings.
Stavion Lowe - I am VERYYY high on this guy. He is a big time OL prospect. I don't think he will move into the top 100 but he will probably get in the 125 range if he is able to add a little more weight and keeps his quickness. Trust me when I say that this guy has ALL-SEC potential. Great pickup for LSU. Easily the best OLman that LSU has committed thus far. Sua'Filo could change that though.ESPN has him ranked in the top 30 in america if I remember correctly; I am doubtful that Rivals will move him much after his injury this season (was not injured prior to this post)
Thats all I have for now. I'll keep this update going if you would like.
Look for Josh Williford to be a 5.6-5.7 3 star (only because of potential and his frame) when he finally gets ranked. ETA: Actually a 5.5 3 star rather than a 5.6-5.7 like I felt he would get

What RB is higher than CM on the board besides TR???
Posted on 10/21/08 at 10:00 pm to lynxcat
Dude go check his stats on the current commits and high prospect thread ..pretty impressive i say..

No reason to argue with you, I am just telling you how it is.
As Sonny said awhile back (paraphrasing): CM is a 5 star on the recruiting sites, but a 4 star in the eyes of the coaches.
Past TR I do not know how the RB list lines up; otherwise, I would say.

My personal choice is CM. He has always shown that he wanted to be at LSU.

He's thought he's had an offer this whole time, nothing's changed

This, in and of itself, drives my preference for CM.
A 20-number NATIONAL ranking difference (which will change again in the coming months, mind you) between 2 RBs is not enough for me to believe that it is a fact that the higher ranked RB will be SO MUCH BETTER than the lower ranked RB 3-4 yrs from now that we should take the higher ranked player who is committed to our arch-rival over the lower-ranked RB who WANTS TO BE HERE NOW!
JMO.

I would be surprised if CM is able to commit this weekend. The fact is that we do not need 3 RB’s (we will take 3, but only if the 3rd is TR because he is so high on the board). I see the coaches having 10-12 recruits (just a guess) at the top of their board that they will accept a commitment from because they are just too good to pass up. There may be a few more guys below that 10-12 that the coaches would take a commitment from because they fill a position of need. I see CM in that second tier…he just doesn’t fill a position of need.
I’m not down on CM. I would just rather see us fill our spots on defense before we take a RB with the same talent level that we have a shot at every year. We will have no shortage of good RB’s at LSU…let’s shore up some other positions first.
