The good news is, as reported by On3’s Pete Nakos, Coleman is eyeing a South Carolina visit after his trip to Columbus. So, there’s already plans to take his portal choice beyond today’s Ohio State visit winding down.
quote:
“The Warren, Ohio, native is wrapping up a trip to Ohio State. South Carolina could land a visit this week. LSU remains a top contender in the recruitment, sources tell On3.” – Nakos

Coleman has already spoken with LSU today. So, conversation has been ongoing since he left Baton Rouge this past weekend.

Would be nice to have a QB. That may be a key for some guys.

Well, if you can hold opponents scoreless, you don't need a good QB.

The Ohio State football team may have lost out on Chaz Coleman
Usually, players from the Transfer Portal commit either on their visit or directly after. Coleman has not given any indication of what he is going to do, so that means that the Buckeyes may have squandered their chances of signing him to the roster for next season.
It's pretty clear that Coleman is shopping around and seeing who is willing to give him the most NIL money. As a freshman, Coleman wasn't very productive, only getting one sack. He has all of the traits of an elite player, but he doesn't have the production to match.
Perhaps that's why the Buckeyes are a little scared of giving him a ton of money to play for them. Still, the defensive line is a position of need. Even with the addition of John Walker, the Buckeyes need some guys on the edge to replace the production that they will lose heading into 2026.
Ohio State is certainly not out of it for Coleman, but they seem to have lost their advantage. If they are able to land a commitment from him, expect an announcement sometime in the next 24 hours.

Are you thinking of Cam Coleman the WR from Auburn? Chaz Coleman plays defense.

Why would he care, he isn’t on offense
