We lost to both A&M and Florida bc we didnt have a pass rush and Chassion would have flipped both of those two games. Our OL was hurt all season and toward the end of the season played pretty well together and now have more developed depth to work with next year. The OL will be much different in 2019.

I think 2019 will be great. OT is the only concern to me.

My point in this thread is that a lack of stout DE's in this signing class will hurt us in 2020...not next year.

Yeah, there's other stuff to discuss, but I feel like the subject is being changed a bit...whatever reasons we lost those games in the past, it's at least in part because we were missing pieces.

I'm confident O will do his magic. He's been surprising people all season with his coaching and this year's recruiting class also seems to very good. I think we get two more big time DL to finish off our class. I think O is starting to realize how to play the "recruiting game" when it comes to big-time players - if you know what I mean!

There's no doubt about that but I'm not so sure it's considered a frick up rather than just a product of the recent LSU history that stems from the Les Miles era into Os and a lack of instate talent at the OT position and DE position for a season or two.

It is his job however to overcome these issues but I also see trying to do that as quick as possible. Maybe by signing a more popular name this would've happened in a shorter period of time but no one really knows that and that's not his fault he was hired here.

He's here now and he's at least postioning LSU in the right direction. It may not happen in a year or two but I honestly think by 2020 and on LSU will be fine trending up even more so. I think the QB/OL/DL/LB position will be in great shape by then. If you look at the QB position we aren't having near as much trouble as we were with Miles and O's trying the transfer/JUCO market much more when he see's an immediate need and I agree with that.

It's not preferable but it's better than throwing your young QBs into the fire and it gives the program time to develop those young but talented QBs. We do need to sign another OT or two and same with DE yes. Frick up on Os part, I don't agree with that. That's all lol

I think the fact that the class is already so great at so many other positions will help O to get at least another DE to want to sign up to make it more complete and better. If he gets 2, it'll be an amazing accomplishment. I'm routing for him.

Agree on all, Tony Bromo.

We are trending the right way...I'm sure you can tell that good news has never stopped me from being skeptical and wondering how that good news could instead be great. I want to beat bama and take over again more than anything...we've been close in the last several years, but we've come up just short because of the same certain issues.

I hope Ed fixes the holes in this class. If not, I hope I'm wrong about what the result will be in 2020...but numbers don't lie.

If we can land one DL of all the kids we have a shot at we will be solid. Would be much nicer to have 2 more.

I love what the class has so far. There are still parts I question and praise.

Qb-think we could've done better but we swing at the wrong fences. I like Parrish especially in a down QB class.

RB-nothing but praise

WR-first class in years I remember so few. I like it. Palmer is a great addition. Talent or depth at wr isn't an issue currently

TE-i gripe endlessly on our approach to TEs. See no rhyme not reason to it. Burrow is the perfect TEs dream type of QB. We need one that make a difference in the passing game. I'm ok with a blocker now and then but not in the abundance we see. Like Turner there for a couple years not a fan of the in kid.

OL-long term I think it's a good class. Initially it's all about Thomas and Bradford. Those are most ready to play. Can Bradford play outside or is he another OG? Can Thomas max his ability? Perry is solid but likely a 5 year guy that down the road could benefit us. Turner developing into a C down the line might be huge. Parker is all about down the line. Physically he needs a couple of years or one excellent one.

DL-have to add another. Ika looks to be a good one. Evans is a 5 year guy. Long term depth. Any more and we should be thrilled. Not a knock just an I don't know.

LB-like Starks, ok with McCallum. Think we are gonna regret not landing a pass rusher at least to develop.

CB-nothing but praise. Stingley is next. Flott has impressive tools. Jones could be our next after next.
S-Hampton would help. Brooks as a hybrid will be special. Add Williams if we can and it looks a lot better.
K-home run
LS-home run.

Let's finish it off.

I think QB in this class is okay...next year looks very strong already.

You know I agree wholeheartedly on TE...I have no clue what we're doing with that position currently.

I think one more blue chip DE in this class could get us by, assuming we don't have one too many early departure there after 2019 and we don't have any big injuries.

I agree with what you said about a pass rusher...needed a Buck in this class, too. Hopefully Cherry is the real deal and ready to step up in 2020.

Can’t disagree with assessment.

Need 1 SDE. Don’t see us getting 2, but it’s still possible I guess.

Missed on WDE.

I didn't say I was going to attack anybody physically...you're the one talking about toughness and feeling threatened by what I'm typing about LSU football.

Stop being a victim.

I do agree.. i think OT is the biggest need. Hurts a lot to not have a talent there that can drop quickly, but still be very strong. Don't know why we keep missing here. Do you or anyone else know how Thomas Perry's footwork is. He looks strong enough, but can he move on his feet??

NM. just watched some of his film.

One of Rosenthal and Wire could surprise in a few months...would be awesome. Rosenthal already has the size, so we need Craig and Moffitt to develop him. Wire is gaining weight and has an amazing frame and a lot of athleticism...we a TE in HS, similar to Ray Parker in this year's class.

I've heard that Perry's feet are quick enough for tackle but that he's a bit soft. He's a kid, though, so there's still time to toughen up. One chick breaks his heart the right away, and he may start punishes fools with that size. He probably won't be ready to contribute for awhile, though.

Ideally one more DL at least. Would be nice to get both a NT and an end. OLB with pass rushing skills is missing. Need that piece of the puzzle filled next year..arguably at least two and not just one.

I insulted you? How? What did I say? I didn't mean to...thought we made peace, mang. Didn't I make you laugh like a child?

And I'm not bitching about anything. It's an LSU recruiting message board...I'm just discussing the ups and downs of LSU and our recruiting. I don't think you should take stuff like this so personally. Your world view, much less your view on LSU football, is bound to be challenged many times throughout your life. This is the adversity you were warned about.

Again, I don't think I insulted you...if I did, I apologize. I hope things get better.

Meh...don't take this stuff personally. Half my posts are nothing more than funny gifs, like Canwood's last post. I bet you'd laugh at a lot of them, too...I have great gif timing.
