This.....
I heard once from a great CFB coach that it is not the great players you miss that kill the program but the ones that get free rides on the pine that do a program in. Meaning that it is ok to miss a player but the one you sign must contribute and make the roster better than before.

Well of course, but you can't blame people for being mad at losing a talent like Cam, especially to another team in our division.
It hurts, and LT is a position of need, but let's get real here. A true freshman is not starting at Bama or LSU at LT. We have plenty of time to scout the juco ranks and develop someone who will lighten the blow. To add, CyKo at Bama is a great player but we just witnessed that one guy can't do it by himself on the OL.
Losing LF would be truly a game changer, and that's not happening.

will be a lesser ranked player
doesn't mean he won't develop into a better player. I'm telling you Cristobol is a shite O-line coach you will see Bama's dominance on the O-line continue to decline regardless of raw talent they bring in.

Well that was brave of Cam to commit to a empty room. Does Cam plan to avid all contact until he moves to Tuscaloosa?
Have you seen this kid? No one will say shite to him. Only badasses that trash him are in front of a computer.

Why is all of the websites saying Cam is the #1 overall player? I thought it was Fournette?

Exactly. You measure by draft picks and wins. LSU lags behind badly in Olineman drafted to Bama. Bama is on Oline what we are to DB's. unfortunately we lag in wins too.

No one wants to see this, but this is a problem. That is 2 of the last 3 years one team "the f*cking gumps" have come in a taken the top recruit in the state. Satan is just starting to heat up recruiting in our state. People think this is not a problem, but it truly is.Try and gloss over it and say it is just one recruit or we pull OOS recruits too and you are being myopic. This is starting to be a freaking big problem. Look at it now everyone is word about Hootie and LF, this is a freaking problem. You don't think Sims and CRob are going to be recruiting those guys hard. This is a problem and it needs to be figured out.

Oh well, I guess we better just close up the program and concede this year and future years until Nick retires to Bama.

I simply can't agree with that. Whoever LSU signs to replace Robinson will be a lesser ranked player, less desirable even according to our own staff. Bama gets an incrementally better player, LSU gets an incrementally worse player. Over time, expecially in a series that has been markes by close games, those incremental differences translate to wins and losses.
This rests on the assumption that the player we sign won't develop into a better player than Cam, and that's not always the case.
Plenty of players who weren't highly recruit turn out to be big stars.

Dude, you seriously have ZERO way of knowing that except from stars. Jerald Hawkins is a RS Fr starting at RT for us. He came in as a 3-star DE, and his athleticism is most likely going to make him an all-SEC within the next few years. What people like you don't understand, is that if Cameron Robinson is a 97/100, LSU will have a 94/100 replace him...it's not that bad. I'm way more concerned with him bringing Hootie and maybe LF with him, but that's a whole nother story. But I hate how people act like we miss on a 5-star and now all the sudden we have to offer someone who ULL is going after.
First, I readily admit that I am relying upon the evaluation of the recruiting services. Those services, especially Rivals, have been statistically validated ad naseum over the last fifteen years, on both an aggregate and individual basis (e.g. teams that have top ranked classes tend to do better on the field; five and four stars have a significantly better chance of post-season honors and first-day NFL draft status; etc.). It's no coincidence that the team which has had the consensus number one recruiting class in four of the last five years also won three of the last four NC's. Star rankings are valid. Exceptions don't disprove this.
Second, even assuming that LSU replaces a 97 with a 94 (using your scale), Bama nonetheless incrementally benefits and we are incrementally harmed. Obviously, it would be better for LSU if we got the 97 and Bama got the 94. Over time, incremental talent differences in a close series matter.
quote:
The staff has put together top 10 after top 10 classes and found more diamond in the rough players than any other team in the country. We continue to play at a high level and anything less than a 10 win season our fans get pissed. That means our recruiting evals and development has been spot on
First, this is a bit of an exaggeration, given that as recently as 2012 we had a class outside the consensus top ten.
Second, and more importantly, I'm not merely interested in winning ten games. I want to dethrone Bama and become the premier program in the SEC. To do that, we can't cede incremental talent advantages to Bama, especially with in-state players.

Some of them are pretty bias towards different schools. I believe it was Rivals that had Ricky Seals-Jones listed as the number one WR last year while he was committed to Texas. When he de-committed and went to A&M, he dropped to somewhere around eight.
