I'm going with:

13 early
9 late
10 transfer portal

It's currently:
13 early
0 late
1 transfer portal

The final transfer portal number likely won't be known until May, as I expect them to save a few for the post Spring transfer wave.

9 Late?

Who are some of the names you would throw in there?

With a completely new coaching staff, they are all going to bring fresh names to the table.

I expect LSU to get in on players that we've never even talked about it, or that never previously considered LSU. I think they will treat the late period as if it were a totally new recruiting cycle, starting from scratch.

We won't even sign 25 is what you're saying? If that is so we are in trouble..

There's no scenario where we don't sign 32, or extremely close to it.

Even if they sign a bunch of mediocre one-year players, they have to get the overall numbers back up.

No way. They'll fill what they need in transfer portal even if they're risky or not that great.

I agree, but everyone needs to be patient on timing. There’s no reason for the staff to use all of their spots by NSD in Feb. There will be a wave of exits after Spring Practices, and then another smaller wave closer to Fall Camp.

I’m sure they will hold onto some for both of those windows, as that will give them a shot a some more talented young guys looking for more PT or better fits and situations.

If the staff feels good about next year’s class this summer and there aren’t any impact guys left available at the end, I could see us holding 1 spot for an early enrollee for next year.

Totally disagree here. Best case is to sign Danny Lewis, Citizen, Jacoby Mathews and Harold Perkins from the high school class. That brings you to 17 total. Let’s say they get another 5-6 transfers over the spring and summer that still leaves you around 22-23 for the class. Use the rest of those scholarships and back fill for the 2023 class. No need to sign guys who will never step foot on the field just to have a warm body there. Quality over quantity

I believe the rule for additional 7 transfer spots is only good for this year. With our numbers being so low, I expect they try to get the roster numbers close to 85 again.

Expect our coaching staff to identify & prioritize specific needs and evaluate potential contributors and offer accordingly.

Not necessarily, whatever is left of the 25 scholarships that we don’t sign, those spots carry over to next year.

It's hard to wrap my head around only having 51 or so scholarship players for the bowl game. That's crazy. They need to adjust maybe like high school recruiting, a transfer can only leave after the season or something... idk. We started the season with 85 scholarship players and end with 51?

The deadline is May 1 for immediate eligibility.

It’s one year ATM, I’ve heard alot of people suggesting it will be extended another year at least with the complications on rosters caused from super seniors and other players who where around for the Covid season

The extra transfers waiver is a one time deal and a rare opportunity to sign 32 players. I can see them saving a few spots, but I expect 29-32 signees, depending on the talent available.

I'll be shocked if Lsu can't fill these spots.

Thanks for the clarification there. So the spring practice wave is it for next season.

What I’m saying is you’ll be lucky to get to 17 total high school signees in this class. LSU should be able to backfill those 8 remaining spots for the 2023 class unless they somehow get 14 transfers. Using the extra 7 transfers this year to fill out the class but being able to back fill from the high school signees would be ideal if that’s even a possibility.

LSU already has 13. You’re saying a brand new staff, composed of coaches from around the country, will only be able to come up with 4 late signees?

Do you realize they aren’t restricted to LSU’s current recruiting list?

They will start this period from scratch and develop an entirely new list.

I won’t be surprised at all with 7-10 late signees and 7-10 portal signees.
