Do people just forget our last year with mett, our offense was not the problem that year. We passed the ball plenty to Jarvis and Odell. Mett was the first truly developed senior quarterback without PTSD that we had in a decade.

I agree with many of your points. But I am one of those few guys who looked at Mett for what he was. People amaze me, when they crowned the guy the second coming of Roger Starbuck. Take a look at the 2013 season.

Mett's Numbers

1. Over 1/3 of Metts passing yards were vs Non-Conference opponents (Furman, TCU, Kent, UAB) who had a combined record of 17-31. Our opponents combined record that year was an unimpressive 79-74.

2. Mett only threw a total of 10 TDs versus SEC opponents (12 versus non SEC), for a total of 1957 yards.

3. Play calling was too conservative through conference play, averaging a mere 25 attempts per game. Throwing the ball a total of 17 in a loss to Florida (who finished 4-8). These numbers are very similar to our attempt total last year.

The point is:

1. Mett did not have a prolific season. He was criticized for not being mobile enough and taking too many sacks. Though he was brilliant in a loss to UGA, he chocked in a 3 INT performance vs Ole Miss. Interestingly, throwing 2 red zone picks, which were easy throws. The same throws we like to criticize Brandon for not making.

2. We struggled with identity that year. With as many as 37 attempts versus UGa, and 20 attempts vs. A&M. I love our coach. But, I maintain, that even with Mett, we didnt know who we were in terms of philosophy.

3. We recruit size, speed, and power. Yet we dont use it all. There are other ways to get the ball in your talent's hand besides throwing.

I think this year is going to be a great one. But we need a shift to a more explosive philosophy. Mett was no more prepared for what we do than Brandon. We threw the ball 296 times in 2013, and 276 times in 2015 (and that is without playing the Mckneese). Not a huge shift. Neither year constitutes and aggressive passing attack.

He'll need development, no matter what, but 180 lbs? He needs 40 lbs before he's ready.

Brennan has already said he understands and accepts the red shirt process. He himself has stated that he is looking forward to that year to get acclimated to college life, learn the system and put on weight. He will be 200lbs+ by time he takes the field his redshirt freshman year. I think he ultimately ends up playing at 210 to 215ish..

30-40 lbs?? Idk like his polish. I also like the fact that mcmilan, Scott, and narcisse don't have to put on pounds (200, 210, and 215). Should be great competition !!! GEAUX Tigers

Maxpreps just named Brennan pre season HS All American, for the third year in a row. I also read that he will possibly be one of the very few HS QBs to ever throw for 16,000 yards and 160 tds in a career. Cant wait to see them let him loose in purple and gold. If he achieves half the success at LSU that he has in HS I think we could do alright...

Brennan may be getting all the press but Lowell is a beast who I think will be hard to keep off the field once he gets a year or so experience.

I hope not. A qb like Brennan needs to play, period. Not have to look over his shoulder and have constant switching with LN. We have stables if specialists that we need to distribute the ball to. Brennan is that guy to grow with and manage games.

If both okay often, we are screwed.

Brennan will come to campus understanding a variety of throws. Our coaches won't be starting from scratch with him.
