This site loves Jake Brown, but he had the same SEC batting average as Neal. I'm not going to lose my mind over Neal leaving, but I won't pretend like it doesn't matter either.

I don’t know that this site loves Brown. If continues to struggle next year people will be pissed.

Whether all of these guys leaving is a big deal or not will solely be determined by who replaces them. If it’s an upgrade, then no one will care. Right now the #1 priority should be getting some power bats imo.

Never said he was a bust but his 2024 season was a bust

I’ve yet to see Jay develop many guys at LSU like Vitello etc have done. It’s early yet but that No. 1 recruiting class of ‘22 has sure been underwhelming collectively as of yet

Jays best players at LSU have seemed to come into the program turnkey ready or were already established at LSU when he arrived

Are you going to pretend that the #1 class didn’t have 2 UCLs and some guys go pro out of HS? Bear and Griff have shown plenty this year. Ack was a dude. Guidry and Neal both have shown flashes. Sure there were some misses and guys that underperformed when given chances even as limited as they may be. Sure I wish some of the guys would have signed or played better meaning they would’ve stayed but it is what it is. I think you’re being unrealistic when having #1 class and some guys don’t shake out in this new day and age.

The sample size of players who meet these criteria is pretty small:

1. Been here 2 or more years so they’ve had at least 2 seasons to show improvement
2. Not transfers from other D1 schools so not turnkey.
3. not established when jay got here

Going back 3 years its:
Joebert, Milazzo, Beloso, Pearson, Kling, Jones, Frey and Neal.

Joebert made a huge leap from his JR to SR season.
Milazzo made huge leaps at the plate.
Beloso made a huge leap
Jones had improved from last year

so we’re basically talking about Pearson, Kling, Neal and Frey.

idk you can’t win them all, but I would expect Pearso to be back and hopefully finally find some consistency.

I an looking at hitters because pitchers have been all over thenplace and we’ve had 3 pitching coaches
