ESPN 100 point guard Blake Harris has been granted his release from Washington and will reopen his recruitment.
He chose the Huskies over the likes of Ole Miss, Clemson, LSU and Memphis.
Do we go after him?

Sure why not

Maybe. But I would think if Wade were going to go after at PG, he'd try to convince the one he signed at VCU (Batts) to come with him to LSU (assuming VCU would let him out of his LOI). Both kids are from NC, but Batts is ranked higher AND already committed to play for LSU's new coach (albeit at a different school)

If we process someone I wouldn't mind. That last spot really needs to go to forward.

is Blakeney expected to return? I doubt he'd get drafted but Euro ball may be in consideration.....I have no info just speculating

Nobody knows that right now. I don't think he even knows. It would be smart for him to return and get some actual coaching tho.

Blakeney will be drafted. Maybe not first round so that might factor into his decision

Word I heard is Blakeney was telling people that if he thought well of the new coach he was very open to staying.
We need a point guard in the spring signing class, though. Badly. Mays has the potential to develop, but you can't go out there with Patterson and Jenkins behind him. The Harris kid isn't a bad take, and there's the Corey Davis kid at San Jac, and there are a couple of others. Gotta grab one of them.

I actually can confirm that Will Wade talked to Lavar Batts last night

From an ACC recruiting writer that is verified on twitter

The top recruit in the class of 17', Lavar Batts Jr., is exploring his options in possibly seeking a release from VCU now that Wade has left

We need big men way more than guards right now. IF we lose 1 more player, then yeah I'd say he'd be a take then, but we need to fill the last spot we have right now with a big.
Not to be "that guy", but there's certainly some dead weight on this team Wade could cut ties with as well if he has much better players to bring in.
Unfortunately Johnny basically left him with 1 viable true PF/C on the team for next season. Epps is really just a tall SF, is not a banger down low at all. Sims is too short to play PF. Alexander is the same height as Sims.
We really need a true 6'8+ big for next year to complement Reath.

Were you one of those people that said this about Quartermann?

Quarterman wasn't drafted so not sure what you're getting at there

You only have 1 scholarship open and there is a much more pressing need in the frontcourt. Reath is the only person with size who can score, rebound and defend (or at least has the potential to defend). Epps would rather play on the wing, and Robinson, though he seems like a good kid, is just to slow too play at this level.
Depth at PG would be great, but you need frontcourt guys first. My hope would be that Wade could bring the PF from VCU who was also recruited by LSU. If you have some attrition, then things may change. However, I don't see him booting Patterson or Epps with both being experienced Seniors. Maybe guys like Hayward or ER move on, but assuming they don't, that last scholarship needs to go to someone who can at least rebound and defend inside.

Doesn't VCU have to release him from his LOI? And can't they place stipulations on where he can go? They seem way too bitter about Wade leaving to let the kid come here, but I really don't follow basketball recruiting very much so I'm curious how that would work.

Curious, if this scenario occurred and VCU said he could not go to certain schools. What are the consequences if the recruit/school defied the restrictions. Would NCAA step in?

Zero chance we don't run some people off. Don't be surprised if he's got 3-4 scholarships to give out in the spring, maybe more.

It's not a matter of running people off. There will be some natural attrition. I would be shocked if Robinson returns. I was shocked he returned this year.
He definitely doesn't fit into Wade's system. Robinson needs to transfer somewhere that's a better fit. He would benefit from a redshirt season sitting out.
