We had 4 rbs going into this yr. If emery leaves, it will be 5. Why is emery leaving anyways? Isn't nfl ready in any capacity, and has a yr left. All rbs averaged over 5 yds a carry, so not sure how any of them weren't sec caliber. Add in the fact that the oline was make shift, patch work, didn't even know who'd play center until maybe game 5 or 6, is also a compliment to them. Same oline is back, and Williams/ goodwin/ cain are a solid trio. Fr reps to spell those and got a nice core.
If Goodwin leaves, and if emery is done, absolutely go get a rb. Just didn't know either of these were known as facts yet.

Weakest group of LSU RBs in decades.

Turner started at center from the southern game on.

I'm actually not concerned about Running Back. We have some depth there.

We surely have depth, but no game breakers. We are missing a guy like CEH, Guice, LF7

Where did I say they were not SEC quality? It's thought Emery will be leaving. LSU always has at least 1 elite RB on the roster. The running game has been one of the worst in decades the past 3 years. It's a need. Williams works hard and he runs hard but let's be real here, if your top guy is a former walk-on you probably have problems at the position. If JD was not playing that position's weakness would stick out like an even bigger sore thumb.
I'm not convinced Holly and Jackson are anything but solid contribution guys like a Darrell Williams type which is nothing wrong with that. Still need that killer instinct RB. They will turn up in the portal give it time.

So they are both NFL players? Sounds great

Darrell Williams was a solid RB at LSU but he was never great. So yeah, they can be that type. A level like Hill, Faulk, Fournette, Guice, insert any big name RB at LSU probably not.
The run game would've been far more exposed this past season if you did not have JD playing QB where defenses were keying in on him during zone reads. That avg is deceptively high due to defenses worried about JD. Which goes back to my original point, it's a weakness position that shouldn't be a hard sell for a high end RB. You should never have to rely on freshman in any position.

Fournette and guice types will not be in the portal, considering they were 2 of the best rbs to ever be at Lsu. At best you get another body from the portal at rb. So unless Goodwin and emery are gone, there's no point.
The 2 kids coming in are highly touted, Kaleb just without the pub of former big name rb recruits. Kid is all of the weight he carries, and has clocked some unreal 100 times (as fast as jalen brown). Definitely agree none of the backs, besides Goodwin, have potential to be that elite rb of the ones returning, but the elite rb you want is just that, a want, not a need. And those name comparisons don't grow on trees

You don't think schools are tampering for big names to hit the portal? It's going to happen buddy, just like Gibbs went to the portal last year. It's happening at every position.

Jacoby Mathews never entered the portal after all?
Thought that was the foregone conclusion

I don’t see Holly or Jackson being high end SEC backs

We could use a LB from Georgia. They can only keep so many 4 and 5* stars without playing them.
