LSU set to host multiple 5-stars for official visits | Where things stand with Dominick McKinley

-Currently the class sits at #6. Swinging for the fences in and out of state.

-Tigers are trying to inset themselves in as A&M holds the heavy predications.

-You could end up with two top 10 Safeties if he joins the class.

-Ranked as the #2 ATH in the country but LSU wants him at Safety. Wildest stats you've probably ever seen. Timpson isn't a world beater and they're 2A but can't deny his athleticism.

-Recruitment has been pretty solvent lately. Had meniscus surgery when he was supposed to visit LSU and TCU.

-LSU got him on campus in June. Texas and OU had him as well. As summer winds down it's been A&M and LSU. Family will visit for the Arkansas game.

-Thought he was about to pop at the A&M BBQ but he didn't and now has these other officials set to Alabama and LSU.

-Next up is Kobe Black the 5* from Waco. He has an official set up for the Grambling game. LSU will try to chip away into his recruitment.

-Didn't visit the Bayou Splash and ended up going to the A&M BBQ. His brother played at OK State and last year LSU brought in Bernard-Converse.

-Trying to get him to recruit his brother to recruit Kobe. Seems like he will take official visits.

-Other two visits are Bama & A&M. LSU not in the top two but seems like Texas and A&M battle.

-Anything LSU lands at CB after what they have is just extra so they can swing for the fences.

-Top 50 prospect has set an official visit for the fall against Grambling. OSU, Bama and Florida in the running. One of these guys that is worth pushing for and seeing where the chips fall.

-Like the CB position anything else you add at this point is dressing.

-Lot of buzz with Florida since the summer but Bama is also another to watch. At least you're getting him to campus.

-Will visit for the Arkansas game with his family. Looks like a nightmare physically in person. A lot of schools are working to get him on campus.

-OU has been the team to beat per the RPM and Texas right behind them. Chad Simmons says that Tennessee is the new team to watch.

-If LSU has any shot they would have to blow him away on the official.

-Great family structure that LSU could play into as an EDGE which they need.

-One for LSU fans to keep an eye on. Taking recruitment into the fall. Shea believes this is the one of all the guys mentioned LSU has the best shot at.

-Spoke highly of the staff after his visit to the Bayou Splash. Two visits in the last two months. Says he has a good bond with the staff.

-Shea believes to keep and eye on this one. Brad Davis is working hard on this one.

-Aggies have always been considered the team to beat. Commits tomorrow. Now some A&M side are saying it could be 50/50 and could pull a shocker. Back up plans for the offensive line for Brad Davis.

-They're talking about Colin Simmons and saying he could still visit for the Florida game.

-Don't be surprised if he does pop up for a surprise visit.

-A tough one to read. All schools involved feel very confident. Ohio State a team in the mix as well.

-Every team thought their on campus visits were great. LSU had ground to make up and how is that even possible?

-He took other visits and got enamored with these other schools.

-He is not one that will take other visits all the time if he commits. LSU will turn up the heat if they aren't the pick.

-If it LSU now great but they will have to double down even more.

-That's the thing about being the home state school. Not done yet and they could land him 9/1.

-Maybe LSU needs more time to build relationships. Seems like the family is just over the recruitment.

-This could be like Tylen Singleton who didn't visit since April but still popped

-This cycle has been very up and down for LSU.

-How much does NIL take into effect with these 5*s? They did get the family over for the Bayou Splash.

-Shea says just wait until December and how things unfold these next 4 months

LSU offered after he had already blown up on the scene the January after his junior season. A few other schools offered before LSU did. He camped at LSU the summer before his junior season so he was obviously on their radar but obviously they dropped the ball on his evaluation since he left without an offer. LSU could be in prime position if Jamar Cain didn’t have his head up his arse.

According to 247 his first offer from any school was LSU on Jan 27, 2022.
247

His 2nd offer was Houston in April of 2022.

I thought it was January of 2023. Well shite, that throws that theory out. Looks like LSU was actually the first one to offer him.

ETA:

Shows on Dominick’s Twitter he was indeed offered in January of 2023, after a bunch of other schools

Twitter link

The recruiting sites have it wrong. January 27 of 2023, not 2022

I have never read that he was. I think Okoye is just a popular name in Nigeria. Like Smith is in the USA.

There was another Okoye to play in the NFL. Amobi Okoye. He was 19 years old when he was drafted by the Houston Texans.
