I don’t care what any moron fan says about the perception if that happened. If we ended up with young and not ish, that would be a huge win for LSU on the field. Young will see the field earlier than ish.

I'm just saying taking the idea of "the fence" to extremes is a) an un-forced error and there's no need to do it and b) can be used against us.
In general, if there's an in-state recruit highly sought and for the idea of "the fence" he takes priority over all others at his position, it doesn't take much to manipulate LSU's staff somewhat. Every rumor, every visit, etc takes on exacerbated significance at that point. We're then reacting to every rumor, every visit, etc. that our opponents control. Based, solely, on the idea of "the fence". And it doesn't have to be that way.
You can still prioritize in-state. For god's sake quit telling that to a) the recruit b) your opponents. For everyone you prioritize, plans B-N just became secondary. And they know it. If they don't, Bama and TAMU will remind them.

The guy from Tigerrag was on 103.7 in Lafayette and believes Ish will sign with Bama on Wednesday! No big surprise and wasn’t from lack of effort from our coaches

Amite area needs to be ignored way to much time spent with those losers. All the resourses this staff put out with Ish is crazy. Offered bro a free ride. If he don’t commit to good guys ,coaches may need to rethink game plan for area. I know I am prob wrong but so pissed to read same crap year in and year out about Amite. Amite, isn’t very rich area money buys you 5 stars at the cheap.

Refuse to believe we are losing Sopsher. Back in the late fall- both parents were all LSU. Amite was playing Country Day and the parents were stating such- talking openly about it. This was when everybody and their grandmother was saying Sopsher was all Bama. IMHO I don’t think it’s changed. They are just enjoying the ride.
Sopsher will be a Tiger.
Sopsher will be a Tiger.

But only one of those two, LSU, suffers in the minds of others (including a minority of future recruits) because of the perception. It is a win or lose perception created by us and us alone; schools like Bama or TAMU are just more than happy to use our own box against us.
This is overrated and not really an issue outside of a handful of internet posters. On-field performance is all that matters in the end.

Some Baylor guy put in a crystal ball for Garmon Randolph. Im not a VIP so I cant see who its for.
If it's not for LSU that has to mean something right?
Ah, crap...hope that doesn't mean we're missing on him.
We need more TE's in this class, big time.

Are you implying that Orgeron and company are naive, unaware or oblivious regarding the games that can be played? If so, that's nonsense. These guys have been doing this for a long time and they know the ins and outs of recruiting and machinations of the process and it's nuances.
They didn't just fall off the turnip truck.

quote:Not at all. Just saying they HAVE to be reactionary. If it's "procecting the fence" then you HAVE to respond in some shape or fashion, even to a rumor... even a manufactured rumor. Sometimes no response is the best response.

I'll give you an example: Hootie
Handlers, Hootie himself, some surrogates here on this board, onlookers on this board (no real association), were all asking "Why doesn't LSU call" when Hootie decomitted from Bama... during a dead period.
LSU did not respond, at all. For some very good reasons. At the top of the list was Jamal Adams.
Not responding was the right answer in that case. If the idea of since Hootie was a LA player where Adams was a TX player caused them to feel that you HAVE to do something simply because he's from LA... you just got manipulated.
In this example (only) it would have had consequences beyond perception and brand; it would have incurred recruiting violations.
ETA: and you left off some context buddy...

Why would it have been a recruiting violation?

It’s been heavily inferred that the barber is taking money to steer kids to bama. IE the only way to get him to steer ish our way was with more money than bama is paying.

Why would it have been a recruiting violation?
We could do that at the time because of him signing the financial aid papers with us (Bama too).
But the penalty would have been retroactive due to him signing a LOI with Bama later.
See Matt Womack.

I took it to mean it would have been a recruiting violation if LSU called Hootie during the Dead Period. That is NOT a violation. Dead Periods mean no face to face contact but phone calls, text messages, emails and regular mail are all allowed.

I think he’s a numbers guy. We take him if we miss on one of our top targets. Also heard this today and not sure if it hasn’t already been mentioned but the Fuller DE that Bama is recruiting is a fall back guy if they miss on Bryant or Ish. It’s going to be close y’all and nothing at this point is certain

No. A better way would be for the Governor, who’s from Amite, to have someone visit that barber shop and find some mysterious code violations. Shut his arse down and make an example of him. If you want to stop people in LA from taking money to help other programs, then make it known that there are severe consequences for doing so. Louisiana needs to wake up and start doing business like Mississippi. Money doesn’t hurt, but THAT is how you build a fence.
