Even if you load up on the D Line, you’ll likely need some portal guys too to bridge the gap.

Unless something changes over the next few months, we’ll have to raid the portal again. This is the only position group we have not recruited well since BK arrived. Depth of DL high school recruits has been lacking every class but I’m sure a lot of that has to do with constant coaching turnover at that spot. I’m ready to see us get 4 or 5 monsters again from high school like we used to.

I believe the staff is doing a good job on recruiting, but really can't seem to reel in the big guys, or highly rated guys on the defense this year. I think there are a thousand things that effect a kid's recruitment, with NIL and all the top universities vying for players with money and other incentives, just don't think this is going to be good recruiting year for the defensive line. Maybe next year.

You would think we could snag a couple Mississippi guys. Here's an article on MS kids going OOS which has been unusual in the past:

2. Mississippi prospects continue to land outside of state lines, and that's a trend we should expect to continue.

Jamonta Waller (Rivals.com)
Patterson: FACT. With so many factors in play now, from NIL opportunities to conference realignment, it’s not difficult to imagine more and more top players from Mississippi leaving the state in future. In the 2024 cycle, Jamonta Waller and Kahnen Daniels are headed to Florida. The top-ranked player in the state, Kamarion Franklin, looks to be headed out of the state, as well. That’s not to say that everybody will leave, but it’s not far-fetched to see more top talent looking elsewhere.

Garcia: FACT. It's never easy to pluck elite talent from the state of Mississippi, but with the combination of a coaching change in Starkville and Ole Miss' reliance on the transfer portal - coupled with NIL movement and newer staffs like Florida and Auburn with true ties to the state - this trend won't soon slow down. On top of that, it's all but proven that national title contenders need to recruit nationally to remain near the mountaintop, pushing the Egg Bowl programs further into the SEC footprint while the traditional powers continue to explore new territory within the still underrecruited state in some respects. The more new programs - like Oklahoma and Arkansas - make waves into the state the more fluidity we'll continue to see there.

CC and others. I'm curious how K Cobbins compares to Colin Simmons athletically.

Size seems to be similar...

Hills and Reliford should be very flippable.

& Losing Cain hurt way more than we realize. There’s a real possibility we will be looking for a new Dline coach this offseason. BK said he has a long road to recovery. It may be shady but teams are certainly using this against us and will continue to. I didn’t like the Lindsey hire to begin with.

I trust this staff to take care of our needs. Its very nice to know we have a staff that is on top of everything. No need to worry.

Right now you have 16 DT, DE’s on the roster, only one is a Sr, now you might lose 2 Jrs. But we have a ton of youth at the position within the roster. I also know Fitz West has moved to that side of the ball, so that’s another.

I used to think SOUTHERN MS was just an annex of LSU.

But they keep their guys pretty well.

I remember Peterman, Dickson, but damn I wanted Walter Young but he slow played us for his buddy J Cuevas.
