I'm glad you know the intricacies of Blakeney's mom's work ethic. Maybe she is working 3 jobs? 80hrs a week at minimum wage is still only $33k a year before taxes and that assumes you don't ever miss a day of work.

Mother needs to become an adult and not force decisions on her son because of her situation. What kind of mother forces a child out of a free education and a chance to become better under a real coach just because she is too lazy to support herself. Work two jobs, work three. Do what you have to.

Do you know his mother? If not then stfu. That's his decision to go pro. There is no need to bash a player's family. That woman worked hard to take care of her kids.

You are a fricking idiot.

Thing is, i'm sure his mom was broke the year before and the year before and she made it through. But I definitely see both sides of it. Sure she'd probably make it through one more year without his money. On the other hand, if i'm in his shoes, i'd do whatever I could to make life easier on her as soon as possible. Most of us just think he'd make her life even better if they both just toughed it out one more year.

It's unfortunate that this thread is more focused on vitriol towards a kid trying to do the right thing for his mom, and not on wishing him the best. I think it is unarguable that he would be better off to stay. The argument to him, therefore, should be hold on big guy so you can really change life for your mom. Not, man your mom is lazy and you are stupid and selfish for leaving.

This happens a lot in basketball. I would love for kids to stay in school longer, but the fact is in many cases that is the worst thing they could do for themselves... (although not necessarily in this case)

I'll make the same statement I made in the thread on the Rant...

With the inclusion of the two extra roster spots per roster for two-way players will change how players come out and will also mean less people going to Europe. Blakeney may or may not be drafted, but even if he doesn't he'll sign a Summer League contract and if he plays well enough will be given a chance. If he doesn't do well there then he'll go to Europe. Also, I'm willing to bet his agent fronts him enough money to help his mom. He has options.

If Wade can coach a defense, they will be much better.
