I know the guy has all world talent and already sits at 6’5 245. Question is he is still an 18-19 year old kid and still growing naturally I’d assume. How do you insure the guy doesn’t get to 275- 285? Would that be too big at TE? How do you keep a growing young mans weight down within reason to play the position he wants vs becoming a lineman if he gains too much? Do you ask him to stay low on weights and stick with functional methods instead?
I know you can’t do much about Height and he will probably be 6’6 or 6’7 possibly when it’s all said and done.

You saw the Burch DE thread, so you wanted to start your own and pretend you know what the hell you are talking about huh?

The first reply shut you down pretty quickly though.

Didn’t see any thread that you just mentioned but thanks for playing.
My question above didn’t say anything about 6’5 265 pounds which many TE have done.
Arik is currently 6’5 245 and room to grow which is why I asked.

Jimmy Graham at 6-7"

Tony Gonzalez at 6-5"

Those are some names, now.

Arik will be unstoppable. Absolutely a living nightmare for opposing defenses.

David LaFleur was 6-7 i believe when he played TE. Not sure about his weight.

The point Arik is “too big” will be when he’s no longer athletic. Growing will not impact that. So what if he’s 6’8” 270 and runs and jumps like a freak. He’ll do things at the position that’s never been done. He has the potential to be the best tight end we’ve ever had at LSU and maybe more.

You want the big fellow to grow some more. Nothing wrong with 6-7 and 260 as the guy can run like a WR now. If he slows down just a hair because he gains muscle, that is OK because he is freakishly fast for a TE now. Note: Travis Kelce is 260 pounds.

See picture below. This guy is pretty good at keeping athletes in top form. Reference, see Devin White, KC18, the entire OL... etc.

Arik is going to be a fricking match up nightmare. He will make millions at the TE position. His athleticism is off the freaking charts.

Look at his frame. He seems relatively dense, so he could perhaps add 10 pounds without showing much, but he looks to be near his physical peak already. I don’t think it’s common for guys training for speed who already have his lower body development to add significant weight.

If he wants to bulk up and play more end line, he probably can, but it would be intentional. He doesn’t have a gangly frame that will be naturally filled out to the tune of 30 more pounds.

NFL TEs are traditionally 250+. Not that hard to find lots of big TEs. And anyways, it's irrelevant. He could end up being 6'7 280 if he carries the weight fine then there's no issue with him playing TE. If anything, he becomes an even bigger match up nightmare when no LB can keep up with him and nobody can out jump him or contest the balls around his gigantic body. It's called nutrition dude. If LSU doesn't want him at a certain weight they'll make sure he stays in playing game shape.

fewer than one in a million people grow naturally after turning 18. Nobody goes from 245 to 275 naturally. Maybe you meant a different word.

Point was most of us know guys that look at weights and add muscle if I’m a betting man Arik is one of those.
I also feel he will have to stay away from lifting to heavy and monitor his diet more than most at that age that are still eating everything in sight and lifting low heavy reps for muscle.
