How does this affect our ability to go cherry pick Texas recruits like we have been doing. Especially those defensive guys we’ve gotten recently?

Aranda is a great coach but not exactly a stud recruiter. Add in Baylor being viewed as 2nd tier behind Texas and A&M historically, not sure it moves the needle much in recruiting. Maybe that changes if he hires some great recruiters and/or wins big.

This.

And it’s not that hard to go 11-1 with 3 stars peppered with 4 stars in the big12. That’s a reason why aranda went.

Dave didn’t like recruiting. He is kind of a introvert. if I was being recruited and Dave came in and gave his talk and then Coach O with all his personality ,I think I would favor O. Then add into it it’s LSU vs. Baylor. Nothing against Baylor but they are not even best team in their state. And

So one offensive player 10 years ago who didn't even sign with Baylor out of high school (he signed with Oregon).

On the Baylor 247 board they thought aranda was going to help them close Alfred Collins and Princely hard to spell last name both 4* DL’s. LSU was recruiting both and they didn’t know who aranda was.

Hester or Dickson said he was the closer on defensive players. Means he has that gift.

He is not the lead or main point of contact, but Aranda has definitely closed some stud linebackers for us

The schools brand has a lot more to do with recruiting than individual coaches. For instance, flip flop Coach O at Baylor and Aranda at LSU.

Would Coach O still get top 5 classes at Baylor?

Hell no.

Would Aranda get get top 5 classes at LSU?

Yes.

Aranda is a wierd dude. Good coach but odd. He isn't going to lock down top ten classes at Baylor much less put up a fence around the state.
