Got to learn a lot as close friends were part of the process with Cam Robinson. Went on a few trips this year with my nephew and friends including LSU/Auburn and TCU/Baylor. Real eye opener is how strict the NCAA is and their complete bullshite rules. For example, TCU/Baylor was in miserable conditions. Mid 20s wind chill and torrential downpour. Still, unless you were on an official visit or already committed, they weren't allowed to let us inside during the game. We had to be out in the elements in the stadium. Not the school's fault at all, NCAA...

LSU intramural flag football probably is more competitive than football at that level.

Good luck and be safe. I10 is brutal from Pensacola to Lake City. Usually lots of FHP

I75 is not bad once you get on there as I go to Tampa.

I was.

Advocate Dirty Dozen, TP Top 12, Tom Lemmings Top 16 in Dixie (LA, MS, AL, GA)

Hit a couple of All American teams.

Fun process but it was nothing like it is today.

Didn't have a kid recruited, but I was recruited many years go. How long? Well, my official to LSU was Notre Dame's first trip to Tiger Stadium, the Jones to Hamilton night. Was recruited by Tom Osborne in his last year as an assistant at Nebraska. Told you I go back a bit.

Wound up signing with Southern Miss because they were the only team that guaranteed me I would play QB as opposed to safety (I was 5'10, 170 lbs.) Ray Guy and Jeff Bower were teammates.

Eventually transferred to LSU, stuck at safety, couldn't stay healthy. That was the end for me.

I wasn't even sniffed by recruiters in HS. My team went 0-10. Ended up doing the military thing, played in some military football leagues, and played at a small school up north when I got out.

I was a Texas top 100 after my junior or high school. Last day of school junior year I fell off a zip line 25 feet in the air and landed on my head and shoulder--had many doctors visits and was able to play my senior year at about 80%. I was 6'4" 255 te/de in high school and was still recruited hard in Texas. Had preferred walk on spots at a&m, Texas, tcu, and New Mexico. I also had nominations/appointments at West Point and Air Force. I chose Air Force. Great experience and we were good when I was there. Recruitment between service academies is competitive and a lot different than recruitment at regular d1 institutions.
