How long will recruiting keep Myles at the helm?

Number one player in last years class could barely get on the field and isin't even in the discussion for next year. Why?!

where do you idiots get this material from?

Shepard is a 5 star QB. Not one series?

he's a 5* ATH, he's not a QB. He'll be at RB/WR like he is this season.

My honest answer. LSU is the best recruiting schools in the nation and it will continue to be great. Les Miles isn't the best coach, but he's a fantastic recruiter. However, I will admit that the recruiting of Florida and Alabama scares me a bit. You would be lying if you said you didn't. But still, if LSU is in the top 10 in recruting every year, they will be great.

I'm not overly concerned with the recruiting gap either...although UF and Bama are loading up on some top studs. And losing Mike Davis does suck. I'm more concerned about the ineptness in coaching on the offensive side of the ball. OLine and playcalling are horrific.

LSU had the top class in the nation a year ago, a top ten class this season and many are predicting they will vie for the top class again next season. Being outrecruited by Florida and 'Bama one year out of three should not give anyone great concern about recruiting. Now if you want to be concerned about the regression of the Tigers offense I'll join in the concerned group. Notwithstanding the RP episode, the playcalling and execution on offense has become so inconsistant it could frustrate even the most patient of fans. No program is going to have a solid Jr or Sr QB every year. Stuff happens like with RP and the coaches and players have to suck it up and press on. The current offensive coaches at LSU have not shown the abiltiy to "make do" with the talent on hand and that is a concern. Now next season, the excuse of not having experienced QB's is out the window and with the plethora of good young talent on hand it will be time to put up or shut up IMO. That being said, I do not believe LM job will be in jeopardy if one year from now he has only 8 or 9 wins yet is sitting with the nations #1 class in the wings. No school has ever made a head-coaching change with the #1 recruiting class about to come on board.

There is some serious suck in this thread. I bash on Miles about his gameday coaching all the time, but recruiting is not something to worry about just because LSU wont be number one this year. Next year could be the highest rated class LSU has ever brought in.

we've already had highly ranked classes with miles before and look where we are now. all those top classes don't mean shite if you can't do anything with it.

terrell pryor was a 5 star QB that hadnt made an impact until this years rose bowl. It takes time. Patience

Bringing in talented players doesn't mean a lot when you have other issues, mainly developmental problems. The current LSU staff's saving grace is recruiting and I am wondering how much of that is a huge waste.

Look at Florida when Meyer took over. He's a good coach obviously, but the fact that Zook left that program stocked with talent allowed him to come in and instantly take that team to the top. If/when a coaching change is made I'd much rather have a talented roster ready for a new coach to take over and use rather than a team full of stiffs.

Next year we beat both Florida and Bama.

Florida loses Baby Jesus and Bama loses their defense.

Not to shite on Saban's 17-1 record because it's damn impressive, but he had the luxury of facing Tennessee, Auburn, Georgia, and LSU in down years.

He's 1-1 against Florida, the only real test he's had and has come close to losing games against the aforementioned "down" teams.

+1. Could have easily lost the last two to LSU and the UT game this year was pure luck(poor officiating again). That being said they deserve to be where they are and I hope they pound Texas.

LSU is recruiting talent...its the way Miles has been recruiting that is killing us now. Particularly QB, OL and DL. Too much attrition on the OL is absolutely killing us right now...
