You're right about no one answering the questions. I get why, it's a touchy subject and you don't want to have certain information out there if a kid decides not to leave, but it's still frustrating to keep hearing the rumors with little to no response on them.

Don't think Vinson leaving is a big deal because he has gotten passed on the depth chart already by players younger than him.

Jenkins on the other hand would be huge imo. If we lose Simon and Mathieu to the draft after the season then we're looking at. Returning depth chart of Collins, Raymond, Thomas and Mills. Collins is a stud and I love Raymond but I'm not convinced that Thomas sticks at CB or that Mills will be ready for major playing time next year.Jenkins is probably a better pure cover guy than all of them and would be a big help in bridging the gap left if TM7 and Simon leave. Brazil, White and whoever else we bring in better be ready to play if Jenkins leaves.

This is the 1st I've heard about Jenkins and their could be a myriad of reasons. There is usually at least 1 guy that doesn't take well to his posiition coach leaving and a new guy being brought in and it's possible that Jenkins is that guy. Not saying that's the reason behind the rumors but it would be a possibility.

There must be more to this story

I view the Tulane turned him down story as a rumor until I hear Curtis Johnson say "we turned him down."

I have heard that he is going to SE LA simply because he wants to play right away.

Didn't know he was leaving. Did he just think he couldn't crack the lineup

Read on ESPN that some of the young talent moved ahead of him and he decided to transfer to SLU where he can play right away.

Johnson said that he will not allow NOLA kids who did not give Tulane a good look out of high school to become a fall back when things do not work out elsewhere ..

Not sure I agree with that but I see his point .. It is a new day at Tulane .. I guess

That seems like a good policy for guys he was involved in recruiting. But Vinson came out of HS before Johnson got there.

I understand but that is what he said ...

I think that there must have been something else and Johnson is using this as a PR move - IMHO

Exactly. Considering how terrible Tulane's program was when Vinson was coming out of high school, it just seems counter-productive for Johnson to do this. No big time New Orleans recruit would reasonably consider Tulane 2 years ago, especially with offers from USC, Bama, and LSU on the table.

Johnson couched the potential transfer by saying no scholarship was available. For a kid of Vinson's talent, you find a scholarship, especially since he would be the best player in the defensive backfield from Day 1.

Agree and think there's no way he'll hold to that if he siad it. In reality, how many of the major prospect kids are really going to consider Tulane over the BCS programs? Also what does he consider "showing interest in Tulane"? Is that a visit, talking to the staff or serious interest? Is it a sliding scale depending on the kid? Sounds like those no visit policies coaches throw out every year. Complete bullshite and meaningless.

Jenkins is dumb if he wants to transfer. He's the starting DB in Nickel situations right now. Why the hell would he leave?

Not only is he from a new Orleans school, but he went to Newman. I'm a Newman alum. It's probably the most academically respected school in the state.

It is a great school, but just because it is one of the most expensive, it doesn't also mean that it is the best. It is probably number 3 in New Orleans. That being said, I do not believe Tulane turned him down.

I thought he didn't want to sit out a year and then only have one year of eligibility left.

By going to SLU he gets to play right away and have 2 years of eligibility.

I would put Jesuit at 1 and Franklin at 2, but Newman is right there with them. It's not a huge difference among those three.
If I could afford the tuition, I would send my daughter to Newman, but I am not sure if I can pay 20,000 a year, which is what it will be by the time she gets to high school.

I know this has been reiterated over and over again, but just take a look at our depth chart in the secondary and you will find that, as talented as ronnie is, we will not notice his departure.

Or you're dumb because the 3rd CB race is nowhere close to being decided.

ETA: I don't really think you are dumb, just making a point.

I'm sure there is very good reason for the kid wanting to transfer, if this is even true. I doubt the kid is doing just fine with his academics and is slated to get PT this year and possibly start next year and just up and decided he's ready to roll out for no good reason.
