He's Les Miles, good recruiter but can't coach for shite

Except when he won more SEC games over the last several years than any other SEC team with not the top recruiting class. What’s gives?!?!

It means he’s told the coaches he’s coming but hasn’t made it public yet.
Disclaimer: I’m not saying he’s coming, but that’s what “silent commit” means

This team would be nasty and the only concern would be a slight drop off in 3 point shooting
I'd be okay with taking less wild 3 point shots without running any sort of offense

I hope you don’t spend too much time watching LSU play cause you have no idea what’s happening with our offense.

You do know we had a top 10 offense. Basketball has changed a good bit teams don't run alot set plays.Tempo tempo more tempo. I hate the bs wild shots but its 2021 basketball.

LSU men's basketball offense was one of the most efficient offenses in the nation last year. You may not like the style of offense. Our adjusted offensive efficiency per KenPom as of 4/5/21 was number 5 in the nation. In contrast, our adjusted defensive efficiency was 124. Defense was our limiting factor last year!
Most knowledgeable posters on this board realize the above. The best predictions for next year suggest that our offensive efficiency will decrease because of personnel changes. If for nothing else, regression to the mean will have a downward push. The biggest hope for next year's team will be an improvement in the defense based on the same factors.
Personally, I would appreciate a more balanced team with both good offense and defense.
Less focus on isolation offense would be nice, too. But, good offenses will use isolation to some extent in the frame of the scheme because it is effective. Getting your best players in mismatches opens things up for everyone. I would like to see more passing, player movement, paint touches, ball reversals, and unselfishness. We will need these things because of the loss of the majority of last years players.

Good post. Yes, we were efficient on offense. Yes, defense was our biggest weakness. Next year's squad will not have the collection of talented isolation guys on offense and will likely run a more traditional offense. We probably will not score as many points but it will feel more like fundamental bball. The roster is shaping up to be pretty good on defense. The type of game we play will look nothing like the one we used this year. Hard to say if we will be more successful, but we will be more balanced.

I wouldn't count on that. LSU's offense has been great the last 3 years. They aren't going to scrap what has made them successful just because of personnel changes. It's still going to be a high ball screen/pick-and-roll based offense with an emphasis on great spacing. LSU was better off the pick-and-roll than Gonzaga last year. Let that sink in.
The difference you may see is (depending on the PG) what they do off the pick and roll. With Waters at PG, although he could score with anyone, he was a facilitator first. He would come off the ball screen looking to see if there was a passing lane/open man first. Smart was different. He had a score-first mentality. That's why a lot of the great passes and alley-oop that were there with Waters at PG disappeared over the last two year. BOTH PG's were really good. They just differed in their approach.
Last year guys like Smart, Thomas and Watford came off a screen looking to score. Passing was a last resort many times. But it worked and worked WELL. Right now, other than Pinson, LSU doesn't have a proven scorer on the roster (at least at the SEC level). That may change in the upcoming weeks, but I still think next years team (though they will run largely the same offense) will have guys more willing to pass. Though keep in mind, under Wade LSU has never been a team that gets a lot of made baskets off of assists. That was the case even in Wade's first two year. So while that ratio may be better next year, don't expect the offense to completely change.

Same song, different verse. There was ZERO reason LSU couldn't be at least an average defensive team over the last 4 years. The reality is they weren't, and for the last two they were downright awful. Just like four years of history suggests LSU will be good on offense next year once again the same must be said with respect to defense...just in the opposite direction. Unless and until Wade chooses to change his approach/philosophy on that side of the ball LSU is not going to be a good defensive team.

Looking like UK for Miller. Illinois assistant coach Orlando Antigua, Calipari's former assistant from 09-14 and major recruiter, looks to be heading back to UK. He will probably bring Miller with him.

He left Illinois so maybe he wants a fresh enviroment instead of seeing an assistant
We will see what happens i still think we can land him
also Orlando wasnt Adam primary recruiter so dont know if it affects him

They are likely losing their 2 best players to the draft. They wont be anywhere near as good next season.
