Even with the flips this class is very good. Hit the portal hard and it’s time for Kelly to earn his money. No more excuses.

It helps that we didn’t have a Kicker/Punter in the class. Those guys are important but usually drag your ratings down.

That's fine, but they are regarded as having the worst actual recruiting info out of the top 3 recruiting websites by far.

No matter which rating service, the top 10 are super-close. Maybe even the top 20. So now you see why there is so much parity overall including the SEC. That will remain.

Agree. If this team does not show drastic improvement next year and a serious run at a championship the following year, BK will never get it done.

I’d argue that that title belongs to ESPN

This is great news, but isn’t rivals trash? Also, is this rating simply Star average?

To the poster that said ESPN, are they even considered in the composite any longer? I thought it was On3, 24/7, and Rivals as the big 3

I’m old school so I do rivals as well. Only knock against rivals is they tend to upgrade players if they commit to certain schools.

If we use the portal every year to find a kicker or a punter every year I'd be okay with that. You can protect yourself better when the scholly limit in the SEC is eventually raised, and sign an incoming freshman. But it's not neccessary.

This board rips rivals and only claims ON3 until Rivals puts out something good about us

I don't consider ESPN one of the top 3 recruiting sites.

nah...not top 20. Look at the classes once you get to around 15....no 5 stars usually, and a ton of 3 stars. Look at OM

I agree w/you on top 20, but as you near the top 10, it is razor-thin close. That's why recruiting the trenches and key positions is even more important. And that's why we need a top QB in this and every class, but especially this class whether Nuss returns or not.

Felt like that was the case for year 3. In the current landscape, I don’t understand the “program building” mentality that gives coaches ~5+ years to get some momentum going as a contender.

We saw what Kelly built at ND over what, a decade plus? Some nice winning seasons but no big prize…

It could have been worse. These appear to be good players. Now let's see if Kelly can optimize them.
