This could definitely help with landing teammate Kevontre Bradford!!

In football recruiting news, you’ll notice that cornerback Lorando Johnson of Lancaster, Texas, has been added back to our list of LSU commitments. I had removed him a while back when he reopened his recruitment in early December. The latest word I’m hearing is that things appear to be working out for him to be part of this class after all, which is encouraging. Johnson is a four-star cornerback with offers from Alabama, Ohio State, Auburn, and others.

So how many spots do we have left assuming he gets in and we add a RB? Looks like 22 right now, RB makes it 23. So two more spots between the Adams kid, Mckinnley, Crawford and whoever else?

And with the addition of Mike Leach in the sec db's will be a very high priority now this is a win for lsu in the long run

Offenses will flourish against his terrible defenses, too.

I can’t remember which game it was but I’m pretty sure he blew a 30 point lead recently.

UCLA
Didn’t just blow it...but only took 2nd half to achieve.

Johnson is a stud. If he gets qualified, he’s a more natural NB than anyone on the roster now.

So could either McGlothern or Ricks play safety since they have the size?

Multiple camp videos, highlights, etc.

I don’t care about stars.

I trust what I see. He’s just a guy.

Thought I saw a tweet not too long ago that his recruitment was wide open

Fair enough, Corey Raymond wants him and can coach him UP....never know he might end up being THE guy in a couple of years...

I'm not gonna lose any sleep if he ends up in the class. Solid is a good way to describe him. He's got good speed (4.54 verified) and pretty good hips/change of direction. He is a pretty good tackler...especially for a corner. Solid in most areas but exceptional at none. Nothing really pops on video.

He has a 36" vertical, yet he is not explosive out of his breaks on videos I've seen. Closest comp on current team is probably Jay Ward.

How may All-Star games did he get invited to? None that I am aware of.

Where are all the high level teams beating his door down since he "re-opened" his recruitment? I haven't seen any documented. Maybe grades are a factor here.

He's a depth guy IMO. Teams need depth guys...I'm just pretty indifferent about him getting in the class.

Youre probably an accountant or something. But okay....keep trusting.

He committed in april. Was he a filler then?

Yeah, if Johnson is back in the class I would suspect we are more confident in getting Bradford vs Gibbs which is fine with me. I think it's a good idea to get another DB in this class and Johnson may be versatile enough to play either CB or safety.

Looking at the future of the SEC west with Bama's spread and Kiffin and Leach joining ranks we will need a nice compliment of DBs.

Anyone who claims Johnson is "just a guy" can't evaluate talent worth squat! Yeah, I have seen him play in a TX playoff game and he had 2 INTs..one wasn't that impressive, just a pre-halftime poorly thrown hail mary but the other one he had the receiver covered perfectly and ran past the WR to catch an over the shoulder pass like a great WRer would do. So yeah, if you or anyone thinks he is "just a guy" thank God you don't do talent evaluation for LSU. You would flat out suck at it!

Ward was in the rotation this year and had plenty of good game experience and was solid for the most part. Especially for a freshman. So, if Coach Raymond thinks he’s a take, I’ll take his evaluation as gospel.

BTW: I questioned the signing of a 3* quarterback (Ward) last year to play as a cornerback. What did I know?

Last season the RB wasn't exactly pumped about Flott, but the staff loved him and he has been a good contributor as a FR. If they think Johnson is worth a spot I'll trust their judgement.
