What's the story on this guy? Bama seems to be very high on him and have him on their list of players they expect to commit soon. Did we not recruit this local kid? I haven't heard anything about him on our board?

Don't think he was a take for us. Could be wrong, but we don't have much room left and already have a few corners committed.

Depending on who you believe, it would appear that Joel is on the outside looking in as far as Lsu's board looks. If Lsu does take another DB, I'd imagine it would be Alford or Reed before anyone.
Joel looks to be a great player, just not for the good guys unfortunately.

Would be the 2nd time in 3 years they take a DB LSU didn't really go after. Eddie Smith in 2018 class, correct me if I;m wrong, but I don't believe LSU showed any interest in, but Bama was high on. Hard to not just trust our coaches when it comes to DB recruiting.

Thanks. This is kind of what I was thinking. Seems like we have higher priority targets, but it's a shame that a good local kid has to go elsewhere.

from what this old feeble mind remembers. early in recruiting process LSU was recruiting him as a safety. he wasn't interested, wanted to play corner.
he was committed to uf for a while. then decommitted. don't know if LSU is still recruiting him but, he did list a top 3-4 whatever recently and LSU had made the cut.

So, what do you suggest? Just take the Baton Rouge kid even if there are other guys higher on the board? Take more DBs than we want just so a good player doesn't go to Alabama? Then, i think you'll be in here complaining that we didn't take enough linemen or linebackers.

I think Alabama likes him at safety, too. He was supposed to be on commitment watch to them for a while now. I'm not sure what the hold up is with that, but I wonder if it has anything to do with us telling him we might have room at safety if he can wait a bit.

Bama has gotten a few DB's from us over the years we wanted (Hootie, Carter, Surtain), although the Hootie deal worked out just fine!
Eddie Smith and Joel Williams were never that high on LSU's board. So Bama does take our sloppy 2nd's sometimes believe it or not.
We just need to get more of their sloppy 2nd's along the LOS...like Eric Taylor. Sure hope he sticks!

We still need 2 more OL if Camron switches to offensive. We also need a TE , RB and we're saving a spot for Guillory and Roy. We'd have to miss on 2 of these targets and then we'd have room for him.
