This has never made sense. Based upon what? A one week performance at an all star game as opposed to a whole season in a regular setting?

There is going to be a final update after the All American games, so these numbers will change.

No idea. Maybe it takes that long for them to evaluate everyone's seasons. Also, I guess all star games and practice leading up to them is like an elite camp.
Maybe they hold the rankings updates until closer to signing day to create drama and sell subs.
Whatever the reason, final rankings are released sometime in January.

Of course they have to re-evaluate the player rankings, happens every year. Gumps gotta get their Bama extra star "bump-up" ...

Gives a chance to see how these guys match up in the all-star games. Like Guice winning MVP and Chassion getting a 3 sac performance. Maybe Cole Smith can get some internet haters off his back. Dude is #1 center in the country. Can't wait to see him in the rotation

That one week is like the combine. It's enough to make minor adjustments to rankings. Just like the combine some guys make moves up or down.

Some recruits will play their entire SR season without ever being evaluated by someone at rivals/247 etc. Espescially if they don't go to any combines or mail in their highlight vids to the specific websites.
These guys cannot evaluate every prospect in America.
