Thus far, this staff hasn't signed any high school receivers who have shown any production
The HS WRs they’ve signed have only played 1 season and also were behind 2 first round picks

Who gives a shite if they’re high school or the portal. You realize 4 of lsu top 5 WRs this year will be from Louisiana?

From New Orleans listed as a safety but thought I read somewhere they offered him at WR
The story on the TD home page only references his safety rankings FWIW...

Offered last summer as a wr
LSU doesn’t have to leave the state for WRs tbh
It’s at least 3-4 worthy of an offer instate every year
Lafell was probably the last oos wr to do anything
Even this yr?
Seems to be a down year. I'm sure years from now 2 or 3 guys from this class will be in the nfl.
Does anyone know who is on the radar at wr from LA?
Does Phillip Wright have a committable offer?

That's why I said "yet.^
We know Lacey is explosive, and so is Hilton when healthy. Anderson didn't provide much last year, and the two newest transfers haven't played a down at LSU.
My point was that a blanket statement that LSU can just sign Louisiana receivers every year and be fine is short sighted. If the staff believed that, they wouldn't be pursuing all the out-of-state receivers they are after.
As I said, all the Louisiana receivers they've signed may wind up in the NFL, and I hope they do. But to just to limit the scope of receiver recruiting to Louisiana is coaching malpractice.

Taron Franics
jacob washington
phillip wright
ferzell shepard
Russell babineaux is a very nice slot guy
We are monitoring some lower profile guys that could pop, too. The Lafayette area is flooded with WRs again this year

Zavion Thomas is a proven sec wr who cares if he hasn’t played a down at lsu yet

Yeah this the list of players I think people need to looking at along with Zay.

quote:The coaches have been here two years man. TWO YEARS! Who in the hell would they have signed during that time? LSU signed 3 WRs in the 2024 class. One is supposed to be a corner, one is out of state and his speed is outrageous. The in state true WR we got, tore up the camps and became a composite top 100 player. He literally hasnt had a chance to play yet.
Thus far, this staff hasn't signed any high school receivers who have shown any production, so we'll just have to see. Maybe the guys they have signed will be future NFL receivers, but I don't think the goal should be to just look to Louisiana for receivers.
In the 2023 class we got 4 WRs. One, i never thought was good enough to play for LSU (i mean he could be power 4 good, but not LSU level). He already left. One out of state, who was either scared, homesick, offered a lot of money by FSU, or a combination of the three, and left. That leaves you with two WRs. One is out of state and seems to be 5th behind a lot of experienced guys (3 of the 4 being Louisiana guys). The other is a very talented in state WR that needs to work on things. However, he is only a redshirt freshman now. Nothing wrong with that.
Does anybody remember what Jarvis Landry did as a freshman? Does anybody remember what Justin Jefferson did as a freshman? Anybody remember Terrace Marshall? DJ Chark, maybe?

This is definitely not a down year. Jacob Washington is underrated and we need to grab him before he signs to Miss St or somewhere else. Kid has a ton of potential. Same with Phillip Wright. If we don't, i can see clear as day, 2 years later these guys going bananas at Miss St in Lebby's offense.
The only reason we haven't gone after these guys is because we're wasting time with DK Moore, trying to grab an elite LSU legacy out of UGA, and we are in the top 3 of two more 5 stars. We are legit in the top 3 for 3 of the top 4 WRs in the country, and a top 13 WR. I say we try for one of Ffrench and Wiley, but also sign the other 2 in state.

One wasn't good enough and left, one has been passed up by an OOS kid in his own class, and the other hasn't played yet.

I think we will take at least 2 more in state WRs. I think if they miss in all the 5 stars WRs and Wiley definitely will hit portal.

Damn
I think he might play his way out of that commitment

Yeah I was thinking the same if LSU offers he will decommit from ULL for sure.
Posted on 6/23/24 at 11:20 am to LSU1215
The WRs will work out fine. Right now the top of the board is very highly rated players. If we get one, and we have Taron, then someone will elevate in season and get an offer. It happens almost every year.

I'm not worried at all because of portal always loaded with receivers with college experience. Just go after Top of the list and if you miss no big deal. The easiest positions to replace is rb and wr.

Shea just put in a rpm for Jabari Mack from Destrehan
Will be a 5 star by the time the 2026 rankings are final
