As for that one awkward rep, one of his coaches replied explaining that it was a drill he'd never done with equipment his program doesn't have.

So you're telling us that TPG doesn't have tackling dummies and TPG coaching staff doesn't coach technique. They just won their division in Texas high school football.

Even D2 6 man has tackling dummies and teaches technique.

Here's his exact quote: "Disclosure: I coach this kid every day. It's unfortunate but not too surprising that y'all are ready to write Landon off after watching a four second clip of him doing a drill he's never done before (we don't have pop ups at our school). ..."

Saying the kid needs to add weight to that frame to play in the SEC is not bashing him. It's a flat out fact.

He cannot play a defensive end position in a 3-4 defense at 240lbs. No way, no how.

It's not bashing him too say he needs to add some significant muscle to his frame for Christ's sake. Devin white was 16, and had much more muscle than him, Kardell Thomas was much bigger and stronger than him at 16 yrs old, Fournette was a freak at that age. There are many examples of kids more physically mature than him at his age or less.

I'[m not saying he cant get the size needed, all I'm saying is he needs to do it before he will be successful as a 3-4 DE. If they move him to outside linebacker, that's an entirely different conversation.

It’s much easier to pack on weight & look bigger when you are 5’11” & not 6’5”. Come on guy

No shite he can’t play in the SEC at that size. He just made 17 you dope

No doubt it is easier to pack on weight if you are shorter, but that doesnt change the fact that he will need to add quite a bit of muscle to his frame, by the time he is done with high school.

I get the kid is supposed to be very good, but he still needs to add some mass to that frame regardless. He will have to in order to hold up against the gumps, gators, and the auburn's of the world.

I'm not sure where the hypersensitivity is coming from concerning this kid, him needing to add weight is in no way shape or form blasting him.

I'm not writing any one off, I stated he's a "project". Having said that, I think he can be coached up. With added mass and proper technique, he looks to have a high ceiling.

I still like Burris better at this point.

Link in op states:
At 6-6, 240 pounds, he has a long frame with plenty of room to put on as much weight as needed. He’s a natural pass rusher who can get around the edge, plays with a high motor and is just tough, physical football player.

It will all work out in the end.

looked like some drill that he just wasn't familiar with or know what the objective of the drill was. I don't really know what the drill is about either and it looks like a dumbass drill to me as well.

If he look good on film then that is much more relevant than this stupid arse drill. HIs star rating is not based on some dumbass drill. Granted I don't know shite about him and haven't even watched his highlights.

but watching that drill does show he knows how to slap a bitch if she gets out of turn. Maybe that's what he was channeling in that drill.

To anyone questioning size or technique...

He's half way through his Junior year. Half. He has a looong way to go before Moffitt even gets his hands on him.

He has a lot of "real" schools interested in him so he must be doing something right.

Adding muscle- yes, who doesn't when they transition from high school to college.
Adding weight- that is absolutely BS; take it elsewhere. Here are the top WDEs, along with their height and weight. As far as I know, they are plenty quick.

1. Chase Young, 6' 5"; 240 #s
2. Nolan Smith, 6' 3"; 227 #s
3. Jared Allen, 6' 6"; 255 #s
4. TJ Watt, 6' 5"; 243 #s
