If we did take a transfer, what position were you thinking?

It seems like LB and C are our biggest question marks.

I agree. If we don't get either Burch or Mckinnley Jackson, yet do get Bradford, Crawford, and Adams, I think our number one priority is to keep at least one slot open for a transfer. I don't think we will need it to happen, but CamRon Jackson *apparently* stated that he'd be willing to greyshirt if we need him to in order to get a transfer.

If he really is willing to do that for the team, I think we should go after an inside linebacker and a center with valuable snapping experience. I'm not feeling super confident about Chasen Hines' snapping ability, although he can be great at a guard spot opposite Ed Ingram. If we end up getting a transfer center, I think the line will end up being LT Dare Rosenthal, LG Ed Ingram, C (Transfer), RG Chasen Hines, RT Austin Deculus, which would be a damn fine group, depending on the center.

If he's not really willing to do that, I think that I'd actually rather have a transfer center than a transfer backer. As a former spread offense QB and WR, I'd have to say that without a center that can block well and has a snap that's automatic, it can really mess up the offense as the quarterback loses sight of his read keys for a split second, which can make a WORLD of difference. Yes, I know that LB is an all-important spot, but wouldn't you rather have a well-oiled machine on the offense sitting pretty and catering to all of Myles Brennan's needs, or add a LB to a room that has players like Micah Baskerville who has been a Special Teams standout, Damone Clark, Donte Starks, Jacoby Stevens (yes, I bet he moves to outside backer), and the incoming freshmen? I think the LBs will be fine in 2020, especially if we move to a 4-3. Our secondary is second to NONE, so the linebacker coverage ability will be more forgiving this year than last year.

Excellent post and breakdown.

I think we need to add 2 RBs so we can have a total of 5.

One could get hurt or transfer out and we never want to go into a game with only 2 available backs.

My predictions:

LSU will get commitments from McKinnley Jackson, Alex Adams, Kevontre Bradford, and Ty'Kieast Crawford within the next 2 weeks to round out the class.

Where will this finish put us in the class rankings?

According to Chad Simmons Gibbs is a homebody type. He doesn’t seem him leaving Atlanta, but he had UF running 2nd for him.

I normally don’t care about downvotes, by why would this question get downvoted?

yeah I don't understand the downvotes here either... but I'd have to say getting those commitments, but with Burch instead of Mckinnley Jackson as it looks now, then that would place LSU right around 3. Unfortunately Georgia has a pretty large Brinks truck that they use for recruits, and Clemson has too many 5-Stars for us to catch up. At the worst we'll be 6, at best probably 3rd.

I wouldn’t really consider Burch to be a DT. I’d say he’s more like a SDE that could even play WDE in a 4-3 if it keeps the most talent on the field

I agree, but I was just going by what the recruiting sites classified him as. I do think if LSU lands commitments from Landon Jackson and Korey Foreman in the 2021 class, that either Foreman or Burch would end up being a DT with the other 2 on the outside. That would be absolutely disgusting and I can't wait to see it.

Where is all this Burch talk coming from, I would be ecstatic if we land him and hope we do, but I don’t see it happening. Am I missing some secret information or just missed him saying he’s coming or flipping?

Not 6 DTs; works out to be 3 DTs, 2 SDEs, 1 WDE

Gives a lot of flexibility across the front in either a 3/4 or 4/3.

CB- Lorando Johnson (possible ineligibility?)
DT- CamRon Jackson (may or may not greyshirt to free up another spot)

Great write up, but you need to take the 2 above out because they are neither committed nor signed.

Both of them are committed, but neither of them signed on Early Signing Day due to ineligibility. CamRon Jackson is allegedly fine now with his grades, but Lorando apparently isn't. I have no reason to take off Cam because he's 1000% committed and will sign in February.

Lorando will probably be taken off within the next few weeks once we have definitive answers on his situation, but as it stands today, he's still technically committed to LSU. Back in December, he tweeted out "my recruitment is still open", then quickly clarified that he didn't decommit from LSU. That was a clear sign that he's not coming. He won't play here, but he's still listed as a commit. If he does miraculously end up at LSU, then he'll be greyshirted, but I still don't see him in Baton Rouge in the fall.

Coach O is at STM in Lafayette. Is he making his rounds or is he looking at someone for 2020 or 2021?

he could possibly be looking at Walker Howard, although it would be a little early for that since LSU's been making the rounds for 2021 and 2022 prospects. Could also be taking a look at Jack Bech, wide receiver.

It’s not too early for Walker Howard, Coach O already visited Newman to check on Arch Manning who is in the 2023 class.

yeah but Arch isn't committing anywhere, nor even receiving offers to his senior year due to his family shutting down his recruitment to protect him. I feel more confident about landing Walker than Arch at this point.
