You have 25 spots. You have 22 positions. You get one at each position, use a couple for deep snappers, punters, an extra corner, and extra receiver or place kickers, and use the extra to sign the best player available.

I would rather an extra defensive lineman than receiver. we are pretty stacked at receiver and that is a position that a freshman can make an impact. DL is harder for freshman to come in and make big impacts. I say always get 4 min DL and 5 min OL but if you were short a year or two then u need to catch that up and get a couple extra. And we have been a little short so 5 or 6 DL is needed next year.

championships are won at the line of scrimmage.... the recipe doesn't change

We should take three per year.

not five. If you get five it will leave you pinched

This is the SEC, you def take 5 DL ...or 8. Guarantee when Ed shouted "DL, DL & DL" from the podium he didn't mean Fonua, Little & Evans.

Cotton-has shown nothing

Cotton was injured his SR season and was a RS last year as a FR. That's a ridiculous statement.

Does every Bama DL that doesn't play as a FR (most likely all of them) "show nothing"?

As a matter of fact LSU took good advantage of the new RS rule (keeping developing players to 3 games or less) and got RS for:

Defense:
Travez Moore
Jarell Cherry
Davin Cotton
Nelson Jenkins
Dominic Livingston
Justin Thomas

Offense:
Cole Smith
Cameron Wire
Chris Curry
Jaray Jenkins
Zach Sheffer
Tae provens
Dantrieze Scott
Dare Rosenthal

There are others, but giving players more time to develop and holding that eligibility will pay off. 2018 we saw a possible shift in players staying so if O and co. can get players to buy into biding their time and developing we will be better in the long run.

LSU use of the Red Shirt (247)
