Clearly, the evil empire is beating us soundly in recruiting defensive lineman

So LSU doesn’t have two blue chips already committed a year out? They’re not recruiting other kids now? You can bet there are highly rated kids you don’t even know about right now that will end up in the 2020 class.

You people are so short sighted.

It’s not the stradgy in recruiting we just need to beat that arse on the field and dominate them on the def front.

OT looking good so far. Ford already committed, and leading the pack for Merriwether-Lewis, Ward, and Raym. Still pursuing Jake Wray, too.

re: 2020 DL Class
since Losing some seniors and possibly Logan(he'll be a rs junior), I think O should look at bringing in a stud Juco and/or grad transfer. It'll be hard to rely on freshman on the DL. Hopefully, the guys that redshirted last year develop.

Any of these guys you think can play 3-4 DE in this defense?

Fill me in on who this guy is. This name isn't too familiar with me.

Thank you for including this

Too many people around here state opinion as fact.

I think you're right, BTW. Apparently his coach is a HUGE Bama fan. Also, it seems a lot of Bammers feel that getting Baker as DL coach should seal the deal on Jackson. I don't know exactly what the connection is with Jackson and Baker, but that's just what I've read on their board.

Hopefully we can get him to see the light, though, because the guy's an absolute stud. Alabama already has a commitment from Jayson Jones, the #2 DL in the country next year. The thought of both Jackson and Jones both going to Alabama makes me want to vomit...or cry...or both.

We need 5 minimum(true DL not scheme OLBs) and should take up to 8

Hell no! What are you drinking? We should take three per year. We got three this year, and we have three left from last year. We should get three next year.

If you have the chance to get a fourth top quality guy go ahead, but not five. If you get five it will leave you pinched at other positions.

You have 25 spots. You have 22 positions. You get one at each position, use a couple for deep snappers, punters, an extra corner, and extra receiver or place kickers, and use the extra to sign the best player available.

If you use that approach you will sign three interior defensive linemen.

re: 2020 DL Class
so is 5 the number we are looking for in your opinion?

And I'm guessing we will skip NG next year.

I'm a "who care's about the fence" guy... in the theme of that the OOS guy I would like to see us go for would be Cole Brevard out of Indiana. Maybe we could use that new-found networking connection known as "Joe's Dad". He knows a little bit about recruiting the midwest and DLmen.

And I'd like to see us flip Josiah Hayes. Dude is a stud and frick Ole Miss.

Wray is going to be a tough pull... he's going to be coach Stud's centerpiece (is he still going to be there??). Not impossible though; tOSU keeps like a thousand OTs on the roster (think it's really like 13 if you take impending transfers) so we might be able to use the depth chart angle some.

Raym I like ALOT; Ford I like even more. I'm expecting Ford to creep up in rankings too.

I'd like to see us pursue, heavily, Mitchell Mays out of Raleigh.

re: 2020 DL Class
Logan-if he comes back
Farrell
Thomas-has shown nothin, is a Jr and might be an attrition candidate
Cotton-has shown nothing
Evans-we don't know his fit or ability
Fonua-tweener for DE, likely an OLB and will have 1 year left
Jenkins-we don't know

That's the DE depth after this year. We can hope they're all studs but DL is a washout position and with our extreme need for depth you'd think we'd know more about the young kids. Also factor in that 4 will be gone the next year. That would leave Cotton, Jenkins and Evans for 21 plus the 20 class. Most classes recruit a year ahead. Need 4 minimum.

Shelvin-beast if he can stay motivated
Livingston-does he ever contribute meaningful snaps
Ika-has to get his weight under control

That's NT. All are way overweight and have conditioning issues and 3-4 nose is another washout position. We need 1 minimum maybe 2 because we don't know anything about the 3 we have and with conditioning issues that may never get sorted out.

Now factor we have 25 spots.
Qb-2
RB-1-2
WR-4-5
TE-0-1
OL-4-5

LB-3-4
CB-1-2
S-2-3
K/P-1-2, hopefully walk-ons

The minimums at each is 18 and if we can land walk-ons at K/P maybe sacrifice a DB we can easily fit 7-8. 5 minimum, more like 6-7 overall DL.

You're ready to write him off already? How many games did he even play last year? 2? I guess I don't understand why it seems you grouped him with Thomas, who is going into his junior season, whereas fellow freshman Jenkins, you had him in the "don't know" category.

Don't forget about another "don't know" guy for 2020, and that's Mike Williams. He could definitely be a solid rotation guy.

Guillory will be a do-able, but tough get. He favors bama alot. Luckily, we have a decent track record eith ASH kids

Guillory just did an interview the other day where he said LSU was extremely familiar and felt like home. Said he likes what Bama does.

When a kid says a campus feels like home, 9/10 times that’s where he ends up.

I think O should be the lead recruiter on Roy and Guillory...because losing those 2 from in-state would be criminal.

re: 2020 DL Class
We pull a Bama and make room if we have to. I’m not sure why McKinley Jackson would consider Bama since they already have a bunch 4/5 stars that will be sophomores when/if he ends up there.

Branard and Guillory along with a Juco transfer should suffice.

Agreed with Vol: OL should be a good class as well.
