No the funniest part is that the only 2 guys that are ranked high from the state are Bama recruits also. If Bama is not pursuing Beckwith he's not in the espn 250.

I think it's more like,

Because it's an LSU-Bama battle, he must be that good.

Him at 16 is a joke.

I count 110 offers for Bama and 62 for LSU... is Bama like that fraternity that gives bids to everyone?

I noticed that neither Greg Gilmore, Ryan Green nor Dontre Wilson have an "interest" in LSU. Ha.

ESPN's ranking are incredibly biased towards the South/East. You'd hardly think that they know the west even exists.

About 1/3 of the players on the list are from Georgia and Florida.

Out of the Top 50 players in the country...
3 are from the West
17 are from the state of Florida

As of right now, there are 55 more players from California than Florida in the NFL. Also, California has about double the amount of all-time NFL players than Florida. Their rankings are like this every year.

Why so much hate on Beckwith? Has anyone on this board seen this kid play in person? You are judging this kid on highlights and stats from his 40.

No one should be concerned with ESPN or other recruiting agencies has to say about La. athletes, unless they had truely evaluated these kids. La. has always been a hotbed for talent. Just check the rosters of colleges around the country or the NFL for that matter. Remember, just in case someone does not. Nick Saban recruited LSU for that reason. This is where he wanted to coach. Now I trust the staff of Les Miles when it comes to recruiting and evaluating talent, and obviously the NFL Network does as well, since they have invited him to participate in the analysis of the NFL draft for 3 days.

I like him as a DE prospect and would like for him to come to LSU, but I don't think it's hating on him to say that he isn't the best player in the state or the 16th best in the country.

I think some people, having read his quotes, have surmised that it's likely he doesn't come to LSU, as his quotes basically read like a word for word Alabama recruiting pitch.

Will I be virtually assassinated if I say Id feel alot better if LSU had 7 on that list as opposed to none?

Really starting to wonder if Saban has pull with the guys doing the rankings and sells this to the kids: "I'll get you ranked higher, if you consider us."

Paranoid? Perhaps, but man, they are in on every kid.

You might have a point if Alabama wasn't turning highly ranked classes into wins on the field and 1st round draft picks. Maybe, just maybe, some of the scouting and recruiting rankings are pretty close to reality.

Its widely known that Rivals, ESPN, and a number of other scouting services neglect the state of Louisiana when evaluatuing kids yearly. Im not sure what it is but they just have been completely clueless and absent about LA for a number of years now. It seems as though if LA kids dont make it to out of state camps then they dont get recognized as well as other kids do.

It kills me that LA puts out some of the best talent year in and year out but we keep hearing about how LA is having a down year but thats just a BS excuse sites give due to their lack of knowledge about LA talent.

Its sad but other than 247, who is doing a pretty good job as of late evaluating Louisiana, you really see an injustice to LA ranking right now.

Close to reality like:

FSU
Texas
Florida
Ohio State
Clemson

Every single one of these teams would get destroyed by LSU at the present moment and all have "OUT RECRUITED LSU" according to the websites.

Maybe just maybe they are slanted because there is not a college in the country that has MORE talent on its roster than LSU going into next season and I for one haven't seen us winning the Recruiting National Championship lately.

You still have to develop the talent. Just because Mack Brown and Urban Meyer got lazy isn't the recruiting sites fault. I'm not sure why Ohio State is listed there. They were winning 10+ games a year until last season. Clemson usually has a solid roster and that is reflected in the NFL draft. They just inevitably implode every season

The recruiting sites are not going to bat 1.000 in their evaluations. For every Julio Jones there is a Marcel Dareus. Most high schools in the Southeast don't have the money and resources to get their kids seen like schools in Ohio, Texas, and California.

ESPN's evaluations are terrible. He's ranked too high regardless of where he goes to school. He's good but he's not the best player in the state. I still think the Beckwith sales pitch and the RN sales pitch are a pretty typical and representative of how much bullshite is put out there from Saban. Hell, it works. But shite, get a clue kids.

Beckwith would play at any of the LB spots, but his athleticism leads to the Jack LB talk. Robert Nkemdiche has been pitched the position because he's a unique talent. He may very likely grow to 6-6 300 and play DE, but he's as close to a Jason Taylor type Jack LB as we've seen at the collegiate level. It's the same reason Alabama recruited Jadeveon Clowney at Jack (and he's actually played some OLB at South Carolina). Regardless, it's not like several positions have been discussed to these kids. The Jack LB is just a unique position because few college teams are running Alabama's version of the 3-4.

And this is why we make fun of the "Jack" LB recruiting pitch.
