2011 Scout #1 Player "Black Mamba"
a) those are from Peterson's SENIOR year
b) that is a highlight video, not footage from a whole game
c) Palestine plays in 3A against 3A competition. Crenshaw plays in the highest division in California.
Peterson was dominating 3A talent, this kid dominates at the highest level, and doesn't slow down when he cuts or jukes. Right now you can't show me better junior film from anybody thus the #1 ranking.
a) Wrong. It's mostly junior highlights.
b) So what? You said Peterson's tapes weren't better. They clearly are.
c) You should have thought about that before saying that this kid's film = Adrian Peterson.
Go look at the Kasen Williams tapes just posted on this board if you want to see better junior film for the 2011 class.

Really? Which of those plays were from his junior year? I'm sure you know since you seem pretty enlightened.
And what does level of competition matter? Really? I could go out and put together a badass highlight tape against a junior high squad, that doesn't make me an elite player.
I said this kid looks just like Adrian Peterson his junior year of high school, and he does.

Thomas is the truth. He could be a 5* at 3 positions rb,wr and cb, maybe S to.He's small but has blazing speed and is electric.Don't be blinded by him being listed at rb.He will be an athlete(or should) on Rivals and ESPN.That's why he's in position to be #1.I don't think he's #1 but I understand the argument. The Peterson comparisons are not fair.Peterson is/was a lot bigger and very different type of player. Also Peterson is a very rare talent.Noel Devine is more of a fair comparison at RB.Thomas is a better all around football player than Devine imo.CB is where he should make his money.

This word "sick", I do not think it means what you think it means....

I don't know how good he will end up being but I would take him over Marcus Lattimore. This supposed greatest running back looks to be a 2 star in my book.

ahhhhhh yes, that explains the number 1 ranking.
Someone finally broke the code.

Spread the word, this thing called HYPE is MUCH more effective if the player is from L.A.

isnt he stealing his nickname from kobe?

Mike Belamy's video is way better as a RB.
Maybe DeAnthony's versatility is enough to wow the Scout folks.

I hope you aren't comparing 3A in Texas to a Junior High squad.

Landry's video is much, much better.

Saw article on si.com today about this guy DeAnthony Thomas nicknamed Black Mamba and watched a youtube video of him. I hope the video they linked to was from his freshman year bc I've never been less impressed by the "#1" player in the country.
I have inside information in regards to De'Anthony Thomas...he's #1 on Scout.com because he's a USC lean.
That's all I've got, but I think it's accurate.

Landry's video is better than EVERY other 2011 WR's video. He's an inch or two shorter than a few of the other top guys, though, so scout.com has him ranked lower than them.

All of them. Why don't you tell me which are from his senior year, since you said that they are so authoritatively first?

Except that's not what you said. You said AD's film looks "exactly like this kid." It doesn't and now you're just trying to make an excuse for a stupid statement.

Asinine. This kid is much smaller and looks nothing like AD did.

Dude, sorry - I originally read it to mean that his films was "not overly impressive", but "sick" (which made my head hurt.) I guess you meant the actual quality of the video was not impressive, but his play was.
Sorry if you weren't contradicting yourself.

Lynx is right-- that is are game film from the City Championships this year (Thomas was also hurt I believe).
"I remember thinking when I saw Crenshaw's DeAnthony Thomas (5-10/180) as a sophomore "this is the best player I've seen this year". Through his junior season and into the playoffs, he has done little to dispel that notion"-- National Scout Recruiting Director Scott Kennedy
"He's as electric a player to come from the West in the last five years, maybe longer... and he's the best all-around prospect in the West in the class of 2011. And it's not close."-- West Coast Scout Recruiting Manager Brandon Huffman Scout Report
Los Angeles Crenshaw coach Robert Garrett said his star junior athlete De'Anthony Thomas is already a wanted man and has plenty of early attention. "I've had several coaches tell me De'Anthony is better than any of the recruits in the state now," he said. Garrett, however, said Thomas wants to keep a low profile with the recruiting process and isn't a fan of the media attention. "He's had so many people around here in the community try to tell him how great he is, but he's such a humble kid," Garrett said. "He wants to keep the focus on all of his teammates, and you have to appreciate that." -- Rivals Jeremey Crabtree

This kid is beyond legit. One reason a lot of USC backers did not want Lache.
Will be one of the top five, if not top overall, recruit in the country.

dstone12,I agree and think Bellamy is the top rb in the country.Thomas is ranked #1 because of hype and his verstility.Scout doesn't have an athlete category so he is at rb because that is the flashy position that can be justified as a position that the #1 player plays. You will almost never see a cb ranked as the #1 player in the country.Ask Patrick Peterson.

Well said. I do believe he is much tougher than you give him credit for.
