It helps keep the wind off of it.

I have a 20 month old girl and a pregnant wife. Should I go ahead and park one car on each just to be safe?

Don't be a fool, park it on yourself. It's like the drop down oxygen things in airplanes. Save yourself first.

I got my truck parked in front of the gates so they don't blow open and rip off

I have my truck and wife's car with the rear bumper touching the inside of the garage door to keep it from blowing in. My door faces due north and it will take a pounding later today.

probably the best idea. having vehicles in the garage will provide resistance to wind because there won't be as much empty space in the garage. Plus IMO, you are much more likely to have some random limb or piece of debris from your neighbor blow into your truck than having your garage door blow your house up.

What if your vehicle doesn't cover much of the garage? There could be a speed-up effect and the wind could intensify in the uncovered areas.

Unless you have an ancient house. Your garage door is rated to take a Category One Hurricane.

Disclamer: Not rated for Tornados
