I'm starting to wonder about the meaning of "imminent"...

"In a minute"

Heh, it's been alot of minutes since the Percy Quinn dam was imminent.

They seem a lot more sure of this than they did the other damn. There were "worries" about the Percy Quinn Dam failing. This one seems like its only a matter of time. Have you seen the pics?

That's the pic of lock 2 that's about to fail.
Evacuations ordered for Highway 41 from Bush to Highway 36 (Hickory - 5 miles north of Pearl River).
I grew up near lock 1 and my parents still live there. Getting back to work to go help them. Prayers?

Got parents on the phone right as the evac was ordered - could hear the tornado siren que up in the background as I was talking to them. Eerie shite.
They also said that cops from St tammany, washington, pearl river, slidell, and abita swarmed the area sirens blazing.

From that image - It looks like the pressure is getting to be too much for the hinge on that side... yikes. Must be debris pushing up against it, too.

So what do they do if Lock 2 failing causes Lock 1 to fail? Mass chaos?
Posted on 9/1/12 at 5:15 pm to SohCahToa
It will follow the West Pearl river down to the Rigolets but will also inundate areas that have already flooded such as Indian Village in Slidell.

They better be correct on this one. After the false alarm on Thursday in Tangipahoa Parish concerning an imminent dam failure that never came to fruition, no one will ever heed an evacuation order again.

Supposedly water was scouring the earth around the gates leaving the structure weakened and less supported.

I'm not saying they are full of shite by any means. If I were told to evacuate immediately, my shite is out, no questions asked.
However, most people don't think this way.

this is the lock in question, Lock #2. The red shaded areas I added are where the earth is being scoured away. Water on the north side is overflowing the southern gates, causing the erosion.

Great link man.
Hope everyone makes it ok and does not ignore the warnings.
