Damn that sucks. Isaac still caught people off guard. "oh it's just a cat 1."

This was a pretty intense cat 1. The 968 mb pressure should have tipped people off.

In Madisonville at Gufte Island it wasn't a levee breach. It was a type of berm that was similar to levee, but not built for flood control

5' of water in Madisonville City Hall reported by WWL.

This is shocking. My parents lived 1 block north of Hwy 22 in downtown from '88-'06. The old lady across the street when we moved in had lived there since she was born(1900). She'd told us that the water never went north of Hwy 22 during any hurricane. Even during Gustav, Never had more than a few inches or so down by City Hall.

Dang, I landscape homes for builders in Coquille and autumn creek. Both are off of hwy 22 and about 1 mile from Guste Island. Any word on this area.

FYI, there are no levees around Madisonville. It turns into marsh about 3/4 mile south of 22, then the lake. Worst case scenario going on, storm just to southwest, with strong southerly pushing water from lake through the marsh and into the river. If they developed on the east side of the river, that was a huge mistake. All the old timers knew the east side of the river was bad to build on.

No levees in Madisonville. What is there is a berm probably 2 or 3ft high randomly scattered throughout the lake. The news people were begging for something they could call a levee break. The shite was underwater yesterday.

Just talked to a buddy who lives directly across 22 from Guste Island. He said it looked like a shite show. Said they were just chilling and would just jump in the boat and save their mill if SHTF,

I mean, frick, Port Louis has a boat launch. How the hell would that be a levee break?
