The house I bought a couple of years ago has a Jenn Air natural gas built-in grill in the outdoor kitchen. It is probably 15 years old and a piece of shite because the previous owners did zero regular maintenance. I am going to have to replace this thing soon.

I also have a small $400 Pit Boss copperhead that I bought during COVID just to see if I enjoyed smoking stuff. Turns out, I'm pretty good at smoking meat and I'd like to upgrade.

Is there even such a thing as a decent built-in pellet smoker? I realize that all of them require electricity to operate augers, software, etc. I do have outlets near the built in area and could make that work.

Basically, I'd love to be able to have all my grilling/smoking needs in a built-in format instead of using two devices.

TIA for any advice.

I'm not sure about built in pellet grills. You may have to just buy a regular one and modify it by taking of the legs and enclosing it.

I've decided though the only thing I want built in is a griddle. There are always new grills coming out and different ways of cooking. I'd rather not be stuck with one type of grill (I'm not a NG/propane grill fan).

A griddle I will always use though.

Memphis Grills makes built in models

They are pricey, though.

Memphis boasts about being able to sear, grill, smoke, etc. on one device. So basically exactly what you are asking.

I remember asking a sales rep at a BBQ store in Houston, about what he would buy given carte blanche. The first thing he pointed at was that Memphis built in.

They advertise that the Elite Model can get up to 700øF

This is exactly what I was looking for. Will need to do some more research, but thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

My buddy just had plans drawn up to meet the specs of his rec Tec. Don’t see why you couldn’t do that.

You aren't good at smoking, smoking is just a really easy way to cook meat if you can follow directions.

I love having everything separate and movable. I couldn't imagine being stuck to the built in configuration, the bar is more than enough for me.

OK. So why post in this thread if you had literally nothing to contribute?

I've seen pics of Recteqs that were built in. Don't install the legs.

I'm in the middle of a patio remodel and wanted one. I settled on the 36" coyote but the lead time is 12-16 weeks. Another issue is the reviews for built in's seem spotty with control panel issues. I have a kamado and I wanted an easy to use grill for my wife. I decided to go gas, just to avoid any trouble. From reading, no personal experience, they can be finicky with auger or control problems. BBQ guys has all the options available. lower cost option would be the silverback grilla, but it doesn't look as "built in" as the others. You also need a dedicated 120v circuit.

I have the Memphis built in. I do love it but it is not without a couple flaws. With it being pellet it does create more smoke underneath the back porch, so much so that I had to move it off the wall and put the rear facing the open air (I just used that as an excuse to build in a Blackstone griddle where the grill used to be so it worked out). It also will have its instances where it struggles to light due to something getting between the pellets and the lighting mechanism, but I just clean it out and it works after that. Overall though I HIGHLY recommend it. I got mine with an insert that allows true open flame grilling if desired. For a filet the other day I had it on the Memphis at 550 for a short time then threw it on the Blackstone for a butter sear and it was unreal. All those I have cooked for on it rave about the flavor.
