I have some original hardwood floors that i would like to have sanded down and stained. Anyone have any recommendations for someone in the Baton Rouge area? Looking to get about 1,000SF done.

Also, what am i looking at for average price per sf?

Joe Johnson is the best in BR but I can’t find his number. I’ll try to find it.

Avoid the Antique Pine Products company and owner Leland Denison. He provides a subpar product and is dishonest. I know two people that had his crew install and finish wood form his mill to a disastrous result. Both had to have the wood either refinished or pulled up and replaced with better quality wood. His business practices are unethical and border on criminal.

I have used Ted Thibodeaux to finish wood floors in the past. He and his crew are slow but the floors look perfect when they are done.

Richard Ward with PIFCCO in Baton Rouge is excellent. He has been doing it for 40 years or so.

That fricker. I bought some wood for a mantel and beam wrap material from him.

The mantel material went well.

He took forever to get my beam wrap material to me. He kept lying to me and giving me bullshite stories about why it wasn’t ready. I had to badger the hell out of him and threaten to cancel the order and get it elsewhere.

When he finally did deliver it, they placed the nearly $2000 worth of wood down in puddles of water. It was fricking horribly warped and took a ton of working to make the material usable.

He’s a piece of shite.

Depends on what finish you want oil Poly 3.25-3.50 add stain 50-75 cents more if you use water base finish expect slight increase for materials 1 gallon of water base costs about what 5 gallon of oil cost but you get use of your floor back in service quicker and no odor compared to oil and it’s a much harder finish oil will Amber over time water won’t fade if you have heavy traffic both can be buffed and recoated. I use a waterbase UV cured finish which is 100% cured & ready to go immediately when we leave. It’s a process where after the finish is dry we use a 600000 megajoules ² ultraviolet machine that immediately cures the finish and it’s the hardest finish available prob can’t find anyone in south la that does that.
