I built 2 years ago and went with LVP because my home is elevated and I didn't want ceramic cracking up. I'm impressed with the durability so far. I have 2 dogs and 2 kids under 6. There is no comparison to laminate flooring. We wet mop frequently, kids have left leaking drinks overnight, spills, etc have left no buckling, and I don't have a single scratch from an 80 pound dog's nails. The only thing that has scratched it so far is a nail head sticking out of the bottom of a piece of heavy furniture being dragged across it.

I just finished build a house with lvp on the first floor. As the poster stated above nothing compares to it. My 45 lbs golden retriever destroyed the laminate floor at my other house in 2 years. No scratches so far and it is fairly easy to keep clean.

Anyone who thinks vinyl planks are aesthetically superior to tile hasn’t looked at very many tile options

I don’t think either are superior, but both are now made extremely well and to look very nice. There are tons of LVP with 10-20 year commercial warranties. There’s a reason LvP is used in many commercial applications.

I have wood look tile in my home. But I’d get some quotes for LVP, if it saves you a good bit I’d have no issues going with that.

Hard and cold is why I love it. I live in a swamp: ten months out of the year, I want cool tiles underfoot. I never have to spend a minute of concern on water damage or wear. I’ve got a classic look easily softened by rugs if I get tired of it.

Double post got me.

Us too. San Antonio is hot as balls. I'd go with something else if I lived in Seattle. We've got wood-look tile, and everyone loves it. Especially the dogs.

I have it all, ceramic, carpet, porcelain, hard wood floors and vinyl floors. Yes, my re-engineered wood floors are beautiful but anything marks or scratches it. I put a rug in my office and sewing room to help with scratches. My husband hates ceramic in kitchen and breakfast areas because it hurts his feet and walks with crocs in the morning. I hate to have to clean grout line but now it’s laid without. I have the vinyl and love it. Can’t wait to replace ceramic soon.

we put in @ 1000 s/f of it earlier in the year and love it. We have a dog that slides all over it and it has no damage. Looks great, too. Unless you just really like the look of another floor, I can't see a reason to go with anything else.

No one's cracking on bad feet. Just the ugly crocs. There are far less horrible ways to pamper your feet. I stand on my tile floors for 4-6 hrs every Friday; Birks keep my falling/en arches from screaming with pain. It's not the floor's fault, after all.

I do my personal residence with hardwood and my rent houses with VP. I don't like the "fake", even if it looks real.
