What's the going rate for garage door spring replacement?

Just had to pay $200 to replace one simple spring on a single wide garage door. Standard as you can get.
However, this is the one task I don't repair on my own.
I've heard of too many busted fingers when the spring slips and uncoils rapidly.

That's what I paid Chad's Garage Doors. Would have only cost $300 to replace both.

Seems about right. I've always replaced mine myself, but mine are the old style extension springs, not the torsion ones. My neighbor works for a construction company, and is a big old baw and he helped me out the last time I had one about to break. I've got two single garage doors, and since I've been here I've replaced all 4 springs. It is not hard to do if you're strong enough to stretch it and have an extra set of hands to attach it once stretched. I also have the steel cables ran through, so when they inevitably snap, they don't go flying through the air. Just the springs are anywhere from $35-75 depending on the type, so $200 to replace isn't that bad.

I paid $300 to get two replaced. Took the guy 20 min, would have taken me 2 days

Yep. Sometimes the risk of injury or damaging something in the process is just not worth the hassle.

$150 about 3 years ago.

One of the most dangerous things you can attempt if you don't know what you're doing. It's worth paying someone who has the tools and experience to do it.

If your door has 2 and you only replaced 1 you going to be sorry
