What's the best way to use Simazine and Tenacity together?

St. Augustine front yard
Bermuda backyard

Would it provide great pre emergent for the St. Aug if mixed together?
Would it also provide great pre emergent and post emergent (for winter weeds), if used in Jan/February on dormant bermuda?

Am I thinking correctly?
Any other suggestions?

-----------
And for when I plant rye on bare dirt, spray the tenacity generic a few days after seeding?

Thanks!! I'm lookin' at you Craw!

Just remember to use the low rate of tenacity for St Aug. You can apply tenacity and seed at the same time. You do not want apply simazine if you are seeding. Also, no tenacity on seedlings.

ronk is your man on this and I see he’s answered……No personal experience with Tenacity other than reading the label - have you used it before to target certain weeds with good success?

No, I originally got it for my upcoming PRG areas only.

But then I saw that it can be used as pre and post emergent on St. Aug as well as on dormant bermuda.

If we happen to go totally dormant around BR then I could see myself applying it at the end of Janurary/early Feb to kill any winter weeds that made it through my fall simazine app as well as a pre emergent in its own right against crab, goose, etc.

Ultimately, I have prodiamine granular, simazine, and mesotrione and I'm just not quite sure how best to use them at the moment.

Also remember to not have any negative thoughts about it or talk about other grasses around it.

If that is what I had to use I'd seed and use Tenacity (St Aug can turn white). After my rye was up and I was mowing I'd use Simazine and Tenacity. You will have some germination of winter weeds because you put down seed and had to wait to use the pre em. If you have rye I really like to use Gordon's Trimec for broadleaf in the winter.

I’m totally with you. I treat my SA like shite compared to the bermuda. That’s the way it should be.
