REOLINK PTZ Security Camera System 4K, IP PoE 360 Camera with Dual-Lens, Auto 6X Hybrid Zoomed Tracking, 355 Pan & 90 Tilt, Outdoor Surveillance, AI Detection, Trackmix PoE

on sale for $127 right now ($42 coupon) but could go lower black friday week

REOLINK Smart 5MP 8CH Home Security Camera System, 4pcs Wired 5MP PoE IP Cameras Outdoor with Person/Pet/Vehicle Detection, 4K 8CH NVR with 2TB HDD for 24-7 Recording, RLK8-520D4-5MP

$319 but i paid $249 for it so look for this to also go on sale next week.

Setup is stupid easy; the hardest part is running wire. You plug them in and they all are recognized by the NVR and you just name them and dial in the sensitivity.

Protip: you can run a single Ethernet cable across the house (non PoE) then just buy a cheap 4 port PoE switch on Amazon for $20 and then push short PoE cables to the cameras from there.

Originally I thought i had to run PoE from the NVR all the way to the device but thats not the case at all. If you already have existing drops near where you want the camera, just buy a cheap little PoE switch and run it from the switch to the camera.

I second the trackmix.

Bought two "for work" to hang at a jobsite trailer. They have smart detection, motion tracking, 2 way talk, and a solid spotlight.

I have deterred 2 would be burglars with a combo of the alarm and two way talk. All while drinking a beer up late at night with motion detection notifications.

Is there an advantage to buying straight from Reolink site vs Amazon?

good question. i like amazon if the prices are the same b/c of their generous return policies but if you get a better deal going through reolink, go for it.

About the size of a softball hanging down from your soffit 6".

Worth it. I want my cameras at home to be seen. For the ones who care about being seen on them, it helps

For the hoodlums who don't care about cameras, it wouldn't matter if I had them or not.

I just got this system in he mail Monday. Been watching it for months and this is the lowest it’s been on sale. It checked all the boxes for me. Mainly POE, 6 Cam, and 5MP

$367

REOLINK 8CH 5MP Home Security Camera System, 6pcs Wired 5MP Outdoor PoE IP Cameras with Person Vehicle Detection, 8MP 8CH NVR with 2TB HDD for 24-7 Recording, RLK8-410B6-5MP

Ended up going with this set.
Lorex

Is there a way to know if I’m able to link up multiple cables like the quoted tip from above? Or how many can be linking onto 1 wire?

i'll leave the science to kork, but there is technically a physical limit to multiple connections sharing a single ethernet run, but i think you would be NOWHERE near that limit with 3 or 4 PoE devices connected to a PoE switch. i have switches all over my house connected to long (100 foot) runs and never had a single issue.

looks like there are a few of the TP-LINK PoE 5 port switches on sale for black friday. i may pick up another one myself, i have a couple more cameras to install.

Have you looked at the T-P Link Tapo cameras by chance? They can be wired but don't look like they are POE.

So I just recieved my cameras and each of the 8 cameras came with a 30 meter cat5e chord.

Is this sufficient to use for POE?

For cameras cat 5e is fine for poe. Each camera only draws about 12w at peak.

Only time you would step up is if you had longer runs or needed to run something on poe++ type 4.

How would I know if I could join 2 wires together in attic and run 1 wire down for 2 cameras ?

I am super happy with Ankee off of Amazon. App is easy, sharable, and has other good features.
As for brand I think that is what is most important.
I use a 4TB WD purple security drive. It is 7+ years old and still works great.
Everything else is up to preference and price.

I dont want to hijack the thread but can someone tell me if I’m going down the wrong road looking for a wireless system? I have a few outbuildings just figured it would be easier.

Another vote for Reolink. I have the Trackmix (PTZ) and two Duo 2 cameras along with the RLN16-410 NVR. The app is super easy to use.

I watched several videos on different brands of cameras and I found this one very helpful in deciding which cameras to buy.
