Most of lawn was fine but aerated and overseeded it all because of some problem areas.

Have read to use “starter” fertilizer with high phosphorus number.

Is that would I should use? Does it matter that most of the lawn is not a “starter lawn”? Thanks

Yesterday

Forgot to add that I aerated it before over-seeding it yesterday

It’s been about 5 -6 months since I last fertilized. Only once this year

Others are far more knowledgable than me, but I think you're past your window for centipede seed to germinate and take before winter.

Centipede grass seed. If I am too late, I am not the only fool. It is flying off the shelves haha

I agree it’s way too late in the year to have applied centipede seed to a lawn, but it’s done, so I’d just recommend watering the lawn on a regular basis in this dry period and definitely not add any fertilizer. Best to assume it won’t take/survive through the winter, but if by chance it does then great.

Honestly, even under optimal conditions establishing centipede lawn from seed is hit or miss. It’s really better in most cases to buy pieces of sod to fill in bare areas.

I’m sure the stores are selling it a discount to get it off the shelves, as they can’t/shouldn’t be selling year old seed next year.

Thanks. I will stay on the watering and see how it goes

Edit: Would fertilizer hurt it or just won’t do anything?

Ferting it will hurt it. Your existing centipede doesn't need fert right now and you'll try to push too much growth for the new seeds. It definitely will not survive the winter if you do that.
