I know there is a lot of discussion should I aerate and will it help. Yes, the healthiest thing you can do is aerate. Preferably ever year. That being said.....make your lawn your bitch and aerate it yourself.

I do it every year at the Home Depot in DS. Price is about what was quoted in here earlier. I have some hard packed areas in my yard and it seems to have made it a little better throughout the years. Best thing is to rent it for a day and split the cost with a few neighbors. For a small lot like mine 1/3 acre it takes about 30 minutes to an hour tops. Easy easy to do.

I'd be interested to know the total cost of the rental once it's all "said and done"
1 day rental: $88.00
Damage Protection: $13.20
Tax: $8.54
Total: $109.74
It did a darn good job. Satisfied with it. Would definitely rent it again.

Now I feel better about the $100 I spent to have TruGreen do it LOL
