I really like my Dewalt cordless 20v weed wacker. I’ve taken it into ditches and it held its own. Only problem is the battery only last 20-30 minutes of constant use.

yep and very few folks have more than 30 min of weed eating to do.

I have one and a Stihl as I have a large yard and farm and need some heavy weedwacking at times but for day to day trimming on a 1/4 to 1 acre lot the DeWalt is the way to go IMHO.

My lot is almost an acre and I use the Ryobi cordless with a 40V lithium battery. I have two settings (mentally) and one finishes the yard, the other does not. In marathon mode, I don’t run it wide open and it will finish the entire yard. In scorched earth mode, I can eviscerate an overgrown spot with utter impunity and not think twice about it burning in hell for eternity. But, then it’s back to the charger dock for an hour.

I’ve been looking at the Dewalt. How long does it need to recharge, and have you ever had a battery crap out on you? I’m on my second Ryobi battery, and it’ll be my last. I’m not going through this with Ryobi and their world wide weedeater battery ponzi pyramid scheme.

I bought a few batteries as I swapped everything to 20v a few years ago and bought adapters for my 18v stuff, one battery I bought is a 9 AH and it will run the weedeater about an hour.

No batteries conked out yet but sure it will happen at some point.

I did buy the multi battery wall charger and keep 4 on there at all times so a dead battery is a 1 min problem to resolve, they charge in about 20 min so 2 would really be more than enough.

I was really hesitant to buy a battery powered weedeater but wanted something light for the wife as she pretends to weedeat but honestly I use it more than my Stihl these days, so simple to grab and use and for some reason my gas can is always empty. (kids, grandkids and 4 wheelers)

Has Ryobi been mentioned?

I’ve had great success with my weed eater and edger. Also have many of their other battery-operated tools and I really like them.

I'm going to be getting this:

ECHO Trimmer/Edger combo kit

You end up only having to pay $30 for the edger by getting the kit (normally $90).

I second this on the SRM-225. I’ve owned one for over 5 years now. I use it for my yard and a few yards I picked up in the neighborhood. It’s still going strong. This one replaced my old Echo which I had used for over 10 years. Each year I replace the spark plug, air filter and fuel filter in the tank. You can purchase a repower kit which includes all three

I'm interested in a cordless trimmer but unsure on which brand. I've heard EGO is really good but I have some DeWalt 20V batteries. They are on the smaller size 3AH though.

I tried 4 or 5 other brands and returned them all as I could only get 10 minutes of cutting out of them before the battery died. Finally got the EGO and its solid.

I have had their mower for a year. I sit on a quarter acre which is about the max they suggest mowing with one battery.

It lasts the whole yard and is so much easier than a small engine. It's near silent too.

I plan on purchasing their weed eater this spring.
