Besides hiring someone, does anyone have a device of some sort they use that you use while on vacation to water a large backyard full of plants that need daily or semi daily watering

You do know they make programmable water timers that attach to your hose to turn on and off and water your yard.

Oh, and a heads up if you decide to hire someone to do the watering.

Make sure they know how long to water the plants so they won't get stressed or die.

My wife and I went on a 5 day trip out of town and had her daughter stay at the house to keep an eye on things and water my 1000 sq. ft. vegetable garden. When we got back almost every plant in the garden looked to be on its last leg and I got to watering everything right away to try to save them.

Her daughter came out on the back porch, saw how long I was watering each plant and said "I didn't know it needed that much water". From the look of things, she spent maybe 5 minutes max pissing my plants off.

Yeah I’m aware but a big back yard and 60 or so pots. Kinda hard to figure out this problem to get water to all of them

In that case, hiring someone seems to be your best option. It would likely cost you more to set up an automatic system for that many potted plants and back yard.

Make a strategic decision. Let the lawn fend for itself and string drip lines in beds and between pots. Move the pots into tight clusters. Buy a battery operated timer that can program for alternate days on and off. Alternately get a simple runtime valve and have a neighbor turn it on every other day.

Plan vacations in your rainiest months.

sometimes you got to take a leap of faith. We went out of town for two weeks in the midst of the August drought and it rained almost 4” while we were gone

Could you arrange a few sprinklers and put those on timers, maybe pull the movable pots into the spinkler area?

I've got a timer/switch tied to a well water pump that can run sprinklers through an associated app.
App can be set to run any time of day, can be turned on whenever I'd like to, etc.
