Our Maytag washer (4 years old) just cut off yesterday after flashing a drainage error code and will not come back on. Anybody had this happen? I have tried unplugging it and turning it back on and nothing.

Our maytag dryer, maybe 3yrs old, decided to stop spinning the drum. Quick Google and determined is was a broken belt. $13 later and all good. I was however, shocked and how little there is to a dryer for the money they cost.

My big question is why that would cause the whole thing not to even turn on.

YouTube will answer your question. I’ve used it to fix all of my appliances multiple times.

I don’t really know, I am guessing sensors that are designed to keep you from turning the machine on and it not being able to drain and overflow

Not even sure if this is your problem but would be the first place I would start

Have you googled the error code?

So had a friend of a friend come out who works on them on the side. Turns out the motherboard is out… so will have to replace that but hopefully that should fix it.

I fixed my Maytag by replacing the motherboard with a used one from eBay for $40, as opposed to several hundred for a new one. Appliance folks sell part-outs on eBay and will help you sometimes with what you may need. Easy to change out along with most other parts on a Maytag washer.

Go to YouTube and look up diagnostics. These machines will tell you exactly what is wrong with them.
